Rebellion Praises PC AvP Community

Aliens vs Predator developer Rebellion has told IncGamers how important the PC community has been in the development of the game and stressed that it will not be "dumbed down" for PC.

It is a multiplat, there is no PRIMARY FOCUS, but pc gaming is getting more focus than the others seeing as it has full DX11 support, so I don't know what you mean

PC is getting the best version... graphically plus maps made by modders. I hope they remake that camp site or whatever you call that map in which it was fenced and there's an underground tunnel. I hope they allow mod installation like in UT3.

I hope there's no auto aim on consoles. Borderlands always pissed me off when it controlled my shots. I'm shooting at the enemy behind the one in front of me but it still sways towards the one closer instead of the bigger threat far away that has a strong helix electric rocket launcher. Yes, it does this even if you turn off auto aim on the options.

Sadly, PC gaming only accounts for around 20% of gamer spending these days. Having said that, I think it's important to keep PC games up to scratch.

In the end, though, I think consoles will do everything PCs will.

True, but PC hits do still happen. The audience is there - it's just a matter of taking advantage of it.

At some point, sure, everything will likely work on consoles. Maybe someone will work out a good control method for RTS games, or perhaps USB keyboard and mice will become popularised. With the PC being free to develop for, though, I think it's going to lead the way in terms of innovation, as it generally does. Indie games on Xbox be damned - it's much harder to create a fantastic game that sells well to go into the Indie Marketplace than it is to do so on PC. PC gaming isn't going to die.

Traditionally, PC gaming has led the way and, to a degree, shaped console gaming. You just have to look at online play and under-created content to see the influence of PC gaming. But does it have anything left to offer?

Well this may be because PC games are cheaper plus when you can buy red faction guerrilla for £1.47 there's no wonder.

Remember People the PC platform has been the biggest money maker in the last 2 years in north America making more than 10 billion USD in 09 and 08 which makes it twice as big as all console platforms put together for both years.

Remember Console companies always play numbers games and spend hundreds of million USD on advertisement every year, PC does not do this because on PC if it is good it will sell anyway.

PC versions are often the best, I find. I always try to get games for the PC if I can.

i agree that pc games are often best but recently there is deffo a bigger focus on the console versions of games. It seems most developers no longer take the time to get the most out of the hardware available to them from pc's.

i mean an obvious example is mw2. at least cod4 had larger rooms, mods, etc etc. now there really is no real difference between pc and consoels for that game except for the controls

So having 1600p resolution support as well as higher res textures, draw distances, higher frame rates etc is not an advantage?

I don't play the game so I wouldn't know, but 'peeps' saying that pc gaming has no advantages is a little naive. Whether or not games officially support mods is also irrelevant, in fallout 3 for example, I tweaked some setting in a config file, now the draw distance is so large that I never get pop in at all, it even renders shadows about 4 times as far away as it used to. I can change the resolution of the water, slap on some high res texture mods, do just about anything, and that goes for all pc games

that's the part I meant, i'm not dissing you, i'm just saying, there are automatic benefits of pc gaming, performance and customisations are always bonuses. There are a lot more ports these days though...

I don't mind a multiplat, but ports piss me off.

what i said was :

a few years ago all the big releases would be on pc and the console versions would look like crap. now the pc versions do still look better, but not by much. i don't believe that developers can't get more out of pc hardware.

seems they're quite happy to tweak the consoles graphics a bit for pc rather than properly develop the game for pc

you've got to be joking, even multiplats like farcry 2 and fallout 3 look like completely different games on PC, it's like day and night.

All my Multi platform games are PC even if I have to wait 6 months to play them.
