Best FPS 2009 Nominees

E4G: Here at E4G we have once again put together all of our votes and asked some hardcore First Person shooter fans to determine the nominees of the Best FPS of 2009. (Borderlands, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, Killzone 2, Left 4 Dead 2, PC, PS3, Xbox 360)

Killzone 2 is the only choice for FPS of 2009.

Obviously the graphics are beyond anything else.

But what made Killzone 2 so amazing was:

1. The AI - the best AI ever written for a FPS. The best description of what Guerrilla Games pulled off with Killzone 2's AI was 'organic'. No other FPS has ever acheived the same level of lifelike AI.

2. The innovative first person cover system. Seamlessly moving into and out of cover in Killzone 2 now makes other games feel clunky. Copying KZ2's first person cover system needs to be a standard feature of every new FPS

3. The immersive controls. No more 'weightless gun on a stick' controls like in arcade style shooters like the Call of Duty games. KZ's unification of the animation system and gun control made you feel like you were actually there on the battlefield and not just some silly point and shoot arcade game.

Killzone 2 was okay, but MW2 will easily take the award. It's just more fun to play, and the online is flawless.

Tough decision on our hands here.

as a FPS fan it was a quite sad year.

And I agree, to me KZ2 was worth playing, not much more.
