ATI's R700 to support DirectX 10.1

As ATI's R650 launch gets closer and closer, more rumors and official information begin to surface. This also applies for the upcoming R700 GPU, which is supposed to revolutionize the graphics card sector. The latest developments point to the fact that the R700 multi-core chip will support the improved DirectX version 10.1 (rumored to be renamed to DirectX 11).

So does that mean that the 8800 doesn't support DX10.1? Anyway, I heard that the benchmarks of the R600 were very disappointing. Hope that the R700 will do what it's supposed to.

about the R600, in recent times its the only thing i have heard where they have been disapointing, so well i am still behind AMD/ATI and yeh like you said i hope they deliver what there suppose to.

this is good news, especially as these cards will cost a bit when they come out so for people not wanting to have to upgrade again when the next DX comes out this is a good way to go
