As ive given up on the PS3 one, those jaggies hurt my eyes. I'll wait to play the pc version to turn on the AA.

vigilante_man3009d ago

I must confess that I have enjoyed my short time on the Beta. I haven't noticed any real jaggies - but I haven't been looking because it's a beta. But it is a lot of fun.

I never play any games on the PC but it's good that developers max out a platform when creating new games. Keeps everyone happy (Are you listening Rockstar - next GTA)..

bobcostus3009d ago

Jaggies? Really? That game has really nice graphics and probably the BEST sound I've heard in a shooter in forever, and you are worried about a few jaggies (that I didn't even see)?

Different strokes for different folks I guess...

raztad3009d ago

Jaggies are there, and they hurt the overall presentation of a very nice looking game but they dont detract from the fun, unless you suck badly and always are in spectator mode :D

dirthurts3009d ago (Edited 3009d ago )

And they are severe. Not as bad as the first game though. I doubt they'll be bumping up resolution or sqeezing in AA this late in developement, not with with frame rates as rough as they are already.
The graphics seemed to chug along on my ps3, and the controls sucked.
The pc version would easily cure all these problems. I hope I can get in.

If the jagged edges "hurt" your eyes. You need to sit the proper distance from your HD TV. If you do that they fade out and it's not an issue. So many people sit way to close to their HD sets. I'm will to be you are one of them.

There's way to much going on in this game for any console to run this game at x2 AA. We'll be lucky to see the PC version have that option. Way to much stuff to draw exploding and flying everywhere constantly.

@dirthurts

Graphics chug? I think you have a lemon for a PS3. The game run smooth for me, even when a building is collapsed with all the smoke.

evrfighter3009d ago (Edited 3009d ago )

The jaggies kill my experience. I'm a pc gamer so my eyes are spoiled. I will say offhand the sounds are going to go down as the best authentic war sounds in gaming. They are truly the bees knees, cream of the crop, hands down, the most realistic audio I've ever heard.

But the jaggies. Ya to some they aren't a big deal but I truly am spoiled when it comes to eye candy. PS3 gamers somehow think they are treated to jaw dropping visuals but that experience only comes from pc gaming. I can't stand jaggies. And the ps3 beta is almost unplayable for me for this reason.

I just finished Uncharted 1 and I really had to grit my teeth to get past the nasty looking jaggies in that game too. It took me 2-3 weeks to finish it because there were days where I just didn't want to bring myself to look at those horrible jaggies. Glad I bought it used. I would have been disappointed otherwise.

I'll make sure and post how bad company 2 looks with the AA to at least 4x @ true 1080p when the pc beta comes out. The difference will be like night and day. Truly an experience taken to a completely different level.

DirtyLary3009d ago (Edited 3009d ago )

I bet it will be a slide show on PC if you go x4.

Just deal with it. Even Blood Bowl shipped with jaggies. The amount of lines to draw are insane.

Prepare to upgrade.

In the end, I'll be getting it on PS3 and PC. To different experiences with the different player counts and controls.

I saw some direct feed PS3 screenshots and was quite disgusted by the amount of aliasing on the edges. But I guess that comes with the console's age. Can't expect much from a cutting edge engine running on a 4 year old GPU.

reneki3009d ago

I've been playing the PS3 version and the graphics are actually nice for a beta. But i absolutely ****ing hate the joystick and this game feels very restricted in many ways, such as no communication to anyone not in your squad, no creation of squads, no picking who will be in your squad, and well no server browser at all. I can't wait for PC release.

"If the jagged edges "hurt" your eyes. You need to sit the proper distance from your HD TV. If you do that they fade out and it's not an issue. So many people sit way to close to their HD sets. I'm will to be you are one of them."

I don't sit close to my HDTV and the jaggies are extremely visible. You need better vision.

"We'll be lucky to see the PC version have that option. Way to much stuff to draw exploding and flying everywhere constantly.

Almost every PC game has the option for AA, and I doubt this won't. Why wouldn't they include it? Crysis has way crazier visuals and physics and they put AA in. And you underestimate how powerful PCs are. 4xAA isn't much of an issue for framerate, and I expect alot of people should be able to run this maxed at 60fps.

"I saw some direct feed PS3 screenshots and was quite disgusted by the amount of aliasing on the edges."

It looks even worse when you're playing on a 50 inch 1080p HDTV considering this game runs at 720p with no AA at all. There are so many jaggies I had trouble figuring out of something that moved in the distance was a jaggie or an enemy.

Pandamobile3009d ago

Not to mention newer ATI cards come with 4x hardware AA which essentially anti-aliases everything to 4x without a performance hit.

I can guarantee I'll be cranking the AA up to x16 in this game :)

"here are so many jaggies I had trouble figuring out of something that moved in the distance was a jaggie or an enemy. "

Sounds like you are the one with the bad vision.

good to see someone knows that its a beta (less than 1GB one). in many forums they apparently dont and constantly cry about visuals.

the beta is awesome, its very balanced and really needs some teamwork to get the job done. but the thing wich bothers me is not related to visuals but the endless annoying conversation, like the one "hey grease monkey can ya fix my ride". i hope they cut it out from final build. cos you can see on your map yourself which tank/car needs to be fixed.

Trunkz Jr3009d ago

I Never played a FPS on a console, so this is my first. BFBCII is just freakin amazing, can't wait to play this with a keyboard a mouse XD

There are a few jaggies, it's an early beta, and for a beta it's very well balanced. Imo and i've played every shooter ever released on PC.

Whether PC/PS3/360/

This game is hands down the best army type shooter i've played, the weapons feel good, the sound is amazing, and it feels like your in a battle.

To the PS3/360 Bashers, the reason GTA4, and other pc games don't quite live upto PS3/360 games is because of directx, drivers, way to many revisions of drivers, cards, low, mid, max, ultr a setups.

For that reason, PC developers don't aim high, they aim to the lowest denominator.

For instance.

You can have a directx 9 card, and then you can really have a dx9 card. It's the same every generation.

Disagree all you want, but it doesn't change the fact i'm correct.

evrfighter3009d ago (Edited 3009d ago )

I tried to make sense out of your post....

wtf are you talking about?

are you under the impression that multiplats look worse on the pc?

please, please don't tell me you are...

iistuii3009d ago

The beta, and i know its only a beta is FULL of JAGGIES, looks awful. I don't care about how fun it is. I'll wait to play it 1920x1200 full AA turned on.I can't play that mess on my PS3 .By the way i'm not a 5 year old , i sit well back from my tv. I have both consoles and a top end pc, and in my opinion true HD gaming will be on the next gen consoles in the future, the graphics cards in this gen aint powerful enough to have a game run smooth with AA on .They all brag how much AA they can do but most of the time it's as little as 2x, and thats not enough .I HATE JAGGIES.

jjohan353005d ago

It's not realistic when the cross hairs glue to the enemy with auto aim (or aim assist). This was the most disappointing factor I've discovered in the beta.
