Two of of the biggest games due in 2007 are Halo 3 and Grand Theft Auto IV. As luck would have it, they're coming out within a couple weeks of one another - despite what you may have heard to the contrary.

You are not the only one that read that...It appears you are simply the only one that misunderstood that...

the quote... "We believe that a two-week delay would provide a reasonable gap between the launch of Halo 3 and the launch of GTA IV, and would actually help sales of both games,"

Halo 3 is set for ~september 25th...and October 16th GTA IV...I guess that is the two week gap they are speaking of, even though its more like 3 weeks...whatever...

Rockstar has always been pretty much the best at sticking to release dates...Unless some huge problem surfaces this summer, it will most like fall right on that the date...give or take a day for the shipping aspect...

NO offense, but also, strictly from an overall franchise perspective...Halo should be afraid of GTA...GTA has kicked the crap out of it sales wise since day 1...being that it has been multiplatform for the most part, it has been targeted at a much larger audience than just the Xbox owners...Halo 2 went head to head with GTA SA, and pulled ahead for that holiday season, but then fell short in the months after...but talking of GTA III/vc/SA vs. Halo 1 and 2, GTA series has obviously sold more...and they are different games totally...I doubt Rockstar is truely that concerned about it...

I don't think it's really fair to compare Halo 2's sales to GTA's, expecially in regards to how well Halo 3 and GTA IV will do respectively. Halo 2 sold MUCH faster out of the gate, but thanks to PS2's huge install base GTA:SA overcame Halo eventually. I believe the percentage of Xbox owners that purchased Halo 2 is higher than the percentage of PS2 owners that purchased GTA:SA. When you consider PS2's 100 million install base it didn't really do all that great compared to Halo 2.

This time the install base of the Xbox 360 is much higher than PS3 so you can't just assume GTA IV will be bigger even though it's on both platforms. If the same percentage of PS3 and Xbox 360 owners buy GTA IV that bought GTA:SA and the same percentage of Xbox owners that bought Halo 2 purcahse Halo 3, then Halo 3 should come out on top, if my non-existent math skills are correct. But it's still really hard to figure out which one will be better just going by figures from last generation.

This was a bit drawn out, sorry, but I hope I got my point across.
