DIG writes: "I first picked up a fake plastic guitar in late 2005. It was a demo in a gaming store, and I plinked and plunked my way through Iron Man. It was a fascinating experience that wound up changing the way I play video games - indeed, it changed the marketplace entirely. While not the first game in the genre, and not the first group to do fake plastic guitars, the sensation that Guitar Hero grew into has created an immensely large market. I can't count the number of new music games from just this year on one hand. It's been exploding. That being said, it's also been a lot of the same sort of stuff, with minor variation, largely focused around guitars and rock."
