Gametrailers.com give their video review of Tony Hawks Ride.
Strong contender for Fail of the Year.
Agreed. But is anyone else surprised? This is Activision after all. When one of their brands is failing, they do something gimmicky to try to bring it back. It's such a shame, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1,2,and 3 are some of the greatest games of all time, me and my friends spent hours upon hours trying to beat each others scores in those games. The Underground games were pretty fun too, but after that, the quality of Tony Hawk games just kept going lower and lower.
I declare thy a flop.
Well at least it's better than KISS Pinball.....lol
It's totally worth $120
the box looks like a mouse trap
This is basically Natal without the hardware. Same concept, same inevitable failure.
I wasn't going to buy this game regardless of of the score, but I feel kind of sad that the Tony Hawk series is finished.
ROFLMAO! Bubbles all around for this epic lulz TGSI
Hell yeah I'm surprised. 5/10 from IGN? 4.6/10 from GT? I was at least expecting this game to be fun a a BIT decent :/ But it's clear now this is just fail. I bet Acti isn't going to go forward with anymore TH games and just let EA and Skate takeover now. Damn...and that skateboard looked like really nice quality and looks like they spent alot of time behind this tech and game. Kinda sad, someone(s) is definitely going to get fired for this idea. $120 too? Haha, expect a fast price drop soon.
Oddly I still see this game selling to a few people. But even if this game was good, $120 would have been a hard pill to swallow. But now that it's crap and still $120, that pill is more like a football.
would honestly spend 120 on this crap.
No doubt you will be able to pick this up next year for £30 with the board in the bargain bin.
The words "Soccer" and "mom" come to mind.
Seriously, where do you go from here?
Down the Toilet where the $hit belongs
you copy skate with a tony hawk name. they made the desperation play and it doesn't seem to be going well, so like most things, you copy what's popular, which sucks because it takes some originality out of the genre.
and to think this could have been the path of Brutal Legend.
Such a pity the game costs so much, too... :( I'm stick a big fan of the 'Flick-It! controls that EA's Skate series has to offer...
A brutal review but I think that the game deserves it. I mean, it just basically screams broken......
Oh, and $120 for a Tony Hawk game? Uhhh....No thank you........
Sony had the PS3 priced to mitigate losses, as it cost a lot to develop, create and manufacture, but at least people have something worthwhile out of it, yet you threaten Sony nonetheless. And here you come out with this trash, overprice it when you clearly are not short on money (hello MW2 sales records) and it isn't worth squat. Oh the irony.
May just be me, but what was wrong with the old TH formula? You know, pick a skater and go through increasingly ridiculous locales with barely anything tying them together?? I thought that was pretty good.
This was sold out at our local Toys r Us and Walmart... I still want to try it though. I'm at least curious to see how bad it can really be.
This flops more then a fish out the water.
About freaking time... now if only activision could kill off the hero franchise the same way then the shelves of game retailers can be just a tad less cluttered with worthless games.
Expect the same review when Hardcore games are made for Natal.
Or the PS3 wand that is an almost exact Copy of the Wii remote..I love how Sony fanboys want to claim Natal will fail and it has to but Sony wand has nothing to show for it either but its all going to be AAA must own motion controls.... Just pathetic.
Why are you so defensive? As far as Natal goes i have no problem with it but you fanboys need to accept this device you are bragging about is not aimed at hardcore gamers and if they do attempt to make hardcore games with it, its gonna bomb simply because one to one accuracy is the most important thing. You can make fun of sonys controller all you want, but they are making something that works for all games with ACCURACY. Next year the new RE5 expansion is releasing and they have support for PS3 motion controls but none for 360 natal...hmm i wonder why? Expect this to be trend once both controls release. Natal is as much an eyetoy rip off as the sony wand is a wii mote rip off. Dont even get me started on how much microsoft has copied from others.
Expected score was expected.
Nothing personal, but your games have sucked for about their last 7 iterations or so. Gotta admit, you really blew us away back in the 90s with the new skateboarding genre, considering people in my generation haven't seen a good skating game since "Skate or Die" at the time. TH 2 & 3 were knockouts also, along with the first THUG game, but after that you became kind of an afterthought, especially after the ultra-gimmicky THUG2, with that god-awful non-celebrity Bam Margera (whose finally disappeared into nothingness where he belongs) And really, it should've stopped there, but it didn't, and after this game costs Bobby Kotick serious amounts of money, you're gonna go nowhere fast, and the franchise will be toast. It had to end sometime, just sad it had to end like this.
For $120 go buy a real deck with good bearing, decent wheels and trucks. Exercise you'll be better off then wasting your time and money on this crap.
Sorry but that has always been and always will be a stupid point and I honestly am saddened that someone who posts on a gaming site would say that proving they really are not a gamer... What you said could be true of a lot of games. Why play football when you can play it in real life. Why buy a racing game when you can do it in real life. Why buy Madoern warfare when you can just as easily join the Army.. Fact is it really isnt that simple With that attitude the gaming market wouldnt even exist, I'm not even going to bother pointing out just how wrong it is to say that, ANY gamer should already know why it's bad.
What you're trying to counter with is totally out of context with what I am trying to say. Everything else that is represented in gaming has a high cost of entry. We play madden to control NFL caliber players, yes we can buy a football and toss it around but thats not living the fantasy of playing in the NFL. You have to basically play football your whole life in order to even have a chance to play at a college level much more if you want to play at a pro level. Playing call of duty is much easier then joining the army and risking your life. See the difference? With those real life scenario's they represent a huge invest of your life that is greater than the $60 dollars one pays to live the fantasy, this new tony hawk cost $120 that's the price of a real skateboard, why in the world would you want to pretend to land a double-kickflip when you can buy a real board and learn to do the real thing. there is no point in paying an entry fee for a virtual experience when the real life thing cost the same and is more rewarding. And accusing me of not being a gamer based on my post........laughable I've been gaming for over 20 years, I work in the industry and have turned almost everyone in my family into gamers. Just because I don't want to be a sucker who overpays for a weak "Gaming" experience doesn't make me less of a gamer.
