Job Prospects for Game Design Grads 'Look Good,' says The Guildhall at SMU

Game industry sales in the U.S. plummeted 19% in the U.S. during October and layoffs continue to plague publishers, with EA in particular axing 1,500 people and shutting down Pandemic. That said, the future of the industry still looks very bright, and there are more game design courses being offered in the U.S. than ever before.

Will these aspiring developers be able to find a job in the industry they are so passionate about? Dr. Peter Raad, executive director of The Guildhall at SMU, says the situation for new graduates isn't bad at all. "Interest in our graduating students is definitely up from last May," he said. "This is our eleventh graduating class since we began the program in 2003 and job prospects for these students look good."
