An in depth hands on preview with the Japanese build of the PS3 exclusive action-rpg Folklore/FolksSouls.
Crap. Looks okay at times but I didn't like it a bit.
Gotta DL to check it out for myself. That's one of the perks of the PS3 no region lock
:O how could u say that, its an amazing rpg game IMO well the game play is :) i dont understand Japanese so im guessing i would like more if i knew the story :)
I'm not even a JRPG fan, but this game definitely caught me by surprise. A must buy for me.
this game looks and plays amazing
I loved the demo..but when are they goin to release a US demo??
for those that still doubt blue ray.. if you reads the article: CG has been removed and replaced with comic cut screne in the demo. Full voice has been removed and will be included in the final. ---------- This demo is pretty short for those of you who has played it, and the download is 1 Gig, I thinkn games definately need bluRay. Imagine making the demo 9x as longer (well yah i know the texture and so on so forth can be reused, but remember we removed CG and Audio on demo already, so I am just assuming), that would fill up one DVD-9 and the game would still be short..but of course u can argue that we can split the game into multi disc since it's RPG..or have Keat and Ellen on two separate discs (which i hate!! remember Devil May Cry 2? just not the way to go...)
"9x as longer" - doesn't work like that lad. That would infer that a final game which is 50hours long would be...well insanely big. Texture information, music, etc doesn't need to be repeated to make a game longer...
yah, but they also removed alot of the elements to make the demo 1 gig, and I am sure the CG movies will not be reusable in terms of texture or whatever, because they are just render mp4s right? I mean it's a stupid argument on my parts, but I just wanted to illustrate that fact that i think, personally, BD is needed. I am no game developer, so some of you probably know more than me. and @ Deep, i thinkn at GDC one of the interview, he mentioned that game takes 20-30 hrs to get through, but if you are hardcore, you will probably spend more time. (he's probably referrring to leveling up all the folks i would assume). nonetheless, if you haven't tried the Demo, do it now! I hope this game turns out better...because i dont want Sony pull a Clover like Capcom did due to crappy sales...Game Republic makes mediocre games but their graphics are always very nice.
I still think with all the hub-bub about blu-ray it should be being USED TO MAKE BIGGER GAMES on the PS3, and it's not happening.
bigger in what way? Big like Lair? Or what?
the sense of more levels, more content, Lair to me is just Rouge Squadron with dragons, just my opinion. If anything MGS4 looks to actually use blu-ray with all the video and audio stuff. No doubt FFXIII will as well but what about everyone else? I just see it used in added 2 extra levels or some more movie trailers and crap. Make use of it in a right way, where PS3 owners that paid the prem price for that system are actually getting something out of it.
more levels? Longer in length? Copared to what? Gears, Oblivion or Mass Effect? Every PS3 game should be over 100hours long?
a good multiplayer mode will give the game replace value.
Like Uncharted? Textures...plus Lair levels are massive. Each level takes up 4gigs....32km by 32km, textures to boot. It's not all about length of gameplay.
no buttocks :( the main character is a female right, in this game ?i hope i can see her titties when i touch my monitor! Anyway the game seems okey from the videos i've seen, Action rpg forever, its actually my favorite kind of rpg, so looking forward to the final release.
anyone liking the background music? i have no idea what he's singing but it's very upbeat and anime feel, gives me the feeling of desperation and striving for a unreachable goal... composer is good..if i can get that feeling from a song without understand a single word IMO. anyone know the name of the song?
But I could not understand wtf I was doing all the instructions are in Kanji/kana. But it looks and sounds beautiful.
and i like it. Pretty much a very similiar idea to Kameo but so far they are doing it better. Graphics are good when there are lots of colorful things around (flower fields and trees) but become stale when there aren't (brown caves and dirt roads). Color is used very well in this game, character models can be better, gameplay is good for now. The real question is... What point of this game does everything become too repetitive, will they add more unique souls to set a difference between all the others?. I really woulnd't want to buy a game that has 16 different monsters that all swing their arms back and forth as an attack. If the souls will all have a unique attribute to them other than the way they look then i'd buy it. If this game ends up like kameo then i'd rent it and probably end up sending it back b4 i beat it. BTW: HotShotGolf 5 is the Shiet, download it at the japanese PS store.
I heard there's like 100 souls or so. Just in the demo you have the defence soul(creates a shield), the big ass beetle that rolls around and your typical offencive strike soul. If you played as the girl too you know she gets different souls. A nectar dropping "bee thing"(sticks enemies in their place), a big as bird that flaps its wings to create a gust of wind, an a bubble blowing goblin(lol). That's about 8 right there and that's only in a 10min demo bro.
SO random question. The playstation magazine that comes with a free blu-ray disc is now out in the UK. It costs £6 so i didnt buy it...BUT has anyone else? What's on the disc? Just old demos...or some exclusives?
game is awesome! very good graphic and art style.
Didn't really like it, graphics were good but i got bored running around fighting stupid creatures. The invisible man and the creatures in the pub were cool though.
