Ex-Pandemic employee: The Saboteur is being sent to die

A recently laid off Pandemic employee has spoken on the affair, saying that Pandemic management is more at fault for the studio's closure, rather than corporate EA.

He does say, however, EA is to blame for mishandling The Saboteur - essentially sending it to die. He describes The Saboteur as being Pandemic's best game yet, a true swan song for the developer.

i watched a gameplay video of it and it was good, if GTA was set in france during world war 2 it would be almost exactly the same as saboteur.

gauntletpython5271d ago

More like 'GTA with good art direction and gameplay'.

im buying just because the guy has that beard.

and in recent cases, they are (or were) owned by big companies! Ensemble with M$ and now Pandemic with EA and RARE is pretty much KIA (killed in action) under M$ because they are in no way or shape the RARE that we used to know!

LOTR conquest is THE WORST game i've bought in a very long time. It had ps2 graphics on pc and played like sh**, three kings on ps2 was a much better game in every conceivable way, i'm no pandemic fan after that effort, i'm just glad I was able to return it, I would have been very pissed if I gave money to those c**kheads.

Another lame dev bites the dust, I can't say i'll shed a tear for them

So it it confirmed Pandemic is being closed? I knew when EA spent all that money on the studio they would not be able to maintain the studios overhead. To maintain studios in the this current generation is a financial burden if the projects don't meet expectations at retail.

this is not good at all. So much potential out of this game

The last game that was 'sent to die' sold 500K + over 3 platforms. Hopefully The Saboteur has the same fate :P

TheAntiFanboy5270d ago (Edited 5270d ago )

What last game would that be? Because I'm pretty sure this is the only game being transferred over from one studio to another following a studio closure, thus I can't think of any previous games in Pandemic's portfolio that was "sent to die" by EA...

EA Sends Classic Titles To Steam

This is a nice collection of classic. EA has opened its vaults and released a series of classic PC games to Steam for the first time ever.

I wish we had a new Command and Conquer.

Vits48d ago

f you haven't already, consider getting 8-Bit Armies or the new 9-Bit Armies. They're made by some of the same folks from the older C&C, with very similar mechanics; it's just the aesthetics that are completely different.

TheColbertinator47d ago

C&C Red Alert 3 and The Saboteur were two different yet completely unforgettable games to me from a better era of EA.

Actually great list TBH I agree with all 10

I hope one day we get some remakes for the following

The saboteur(with a proper remake and quality of life features this game could be great)
Scarface world is yours
Binary domain ( such a great game with great story)
GUN(this needs a remake)
Space marine 40k(such fun time)

Would also like to suggest adding the mercenary series even the 2nd game which is disliked by many is a fun time

I recently finished Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine and found it to be very enjoyable.

The game respected the lore and the gameplay was quite decent.

The color palette was a bit underwhelming (backdrops and setting) and recycled but I think that it deserved better.

Here's hoping for an amazing sequel
