10 minute comparison video by 1UP.com of Forza Motorsport 2 and Colin McRae DiRT.
i liked it when i played the Dirt demo as if you crash into the walls/barriers then they bend etc, quite amusing especially when i was driving on the head to head track ... (think it was the Subaru) and i hit barrels accross the track and made the computer crash haha, i then started going backwards and yeh it was pretty fun hehe *evil smile*
This comparison wasn't everything I thought it could be. I really wish they could've went more in depth about DiRT but i guess it's not a final product yet unlike Forza.
if i was you i would expect alot more, as when just the forza demo was available there was loads of news about it.
iv played both demos and DIRT plays and looks better than forza.
im not to sure, i think the gameplay in forza is better, but when i was playing DIRT i was having a laugh going round backwards etc and hitting into the barriers and bending them etc.
when i get forza i hope its an excellent game and i think it has alot of potential.
out of all the comparisons that have been done, why havent there been a dirt vr motorstorm comparison yet!!
can you request for certain ones to be done?
MotorStorm vs. FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage would also be interesting.
The most important difference to me is that in Forza you can feel if you're going too fast into a corner, you know when you need to slow down. In Dirt it feels like you have to take a chance in every corner, you never feel like you're gonna get better with training. Also, the cars handling is over-sensitive, makes it swing left and right on the track. If you have played Rallisport Challenge 2 you know what handling rally cars should feel like. Dirt looks quite a bit better, although the massive use of bloom lightning makes it's graphics look kind of messy. I was amazed by the graphics, but got bored by the game after 4 races. Kudos to Codemasters for making the excellent in-car cameras though! To be honest, this comparison is quite odd. One of the game is a racing sim that offers deep customization to over 300 cars, the other one is an all out off road racer that focuses heavy on graphics and has arcade-like handling.
I with you on what your saying and swear you took the words right out of my mouth!I really just want a rallisport 3 and heck maybe a wreckless 2 someday!
It's true what they said about the ( in-car ) view adding more immersion playability as well giving you an actual realistic perspective when playing the game. Hope next time all driving/racing games could put this as a standard feature. It's understandable that Forza2 has concentrated more on the physical capabilities and with that much number of vehicles and bucketloads of modding options the creators could'nt add the in-car camera angle anymore. It would just take-up a lot of time and space to put in CGI form all those interior shots of every vehicle. It's also good for the XBox360 having an abundant number of racing titles. All of them are top choices, and more to come... ( PGR4, GTR2... )
Yeah I fell in love with the in car view way back in Rallisport 2 and hope that developers do start to use this as a standard like legs in Halo and Riddick!
Of the 2 games (both of which are very impressive in terms of looks and the demos) I will be more likely to buy DIRT just because I think it lends itself more to a laid back "jump in" style of gaming, I know it is a sim but I feel it can be played arcadey where as Forza 2 needs you to get into the heavy tuning and mod options to really progress.
Both look good but DIRT is for me, that video is right though, there are some very good racing games on 360 now and its nice that they are coming out over the summer so to avoid the horrible gaming drought! DIRT will keep me happy until Bioshock in August and Halo in September!
I not a big car racing fan but Dirt really opened my eyes. Its a very good game and better then Forza 2 in my opinion. Plus u can race 100 people on Dirt but the catch is u don't see them on the track. You can chat with them and see one another's progress in the rankings ticker during the game. Plus real time car damage and the ability to total your car to the point were your not able to continue the race. It makes every turn and straight away that much more important and when to take risk and when to not.
I want to believe you actually played both games with a comment like that although Dirt's Offroad physics are dam good the only area that Foza and Dirt can be compared Dirt gets beat by older Xbox 360 games such as TDU and more, Dirts onroad gameplay sucks ass man.
When I was playing the dirt demo, I had a big problem with how the car turned, it felt like the car turned by the center, not by the axles which made me iffy. It did look really nice.
dirt all the way.
The physics engine in DIRT is utter crap.
i agree with you FordGTGuy i dont know what kind of bullcrapp codemaster is trying to pull on us, its funny how they start talking about motostorm & dirt like they dont care screw forza lol
...are an a-hole. Just shut it. Nobody cares if you don't like Forza.
I've been playing Forza 2 since wednesday and the game is really good.
Forza's graphics may not be good, but it's very deep with content and activity. Comparisions are pointless until Dirt is actually on the shelves.
