MechWarrior 4 FreeWare Release Imminent

WorthPlaying writes, "With Piranha Games working on MechWarrior 5, Smith & Tinker announced that, in celebration of BattleTech's 25th anniversary, its predecessor will be released for free by MekTek Studios along with its expansion packs.

MekTek revealed that a recent meeting green lighting the release of MechWarrior 4 did not yield any results, but with the free release is ready, and awaiting approval, which could happen as early as..." (Mech Warrior 5, MechWarrior, Mechwarrior 4: Vengeance, MechWarrior: Living Legends, PC)

So you know they are actually having to take content OUT of the free release. Way back in the 90s Harmony Gold sued Fasa for copy right infringmet. Well that all was worked out and the 13 or so mechs from Crusher Joe, Macross, and one other anime were removed from the battletech/mechwarrior universe. Well Mektek had put those mechs INTO mw4 mercs and were able to get away with it Because they weren't getting a profit, now that they have been given permission by smith and Tinker/ Jordan weisman to release it they have to remove their hard work from the game.

Epic game! So much fun customizing the mechs, and for the time the graphics were amazing. Really drew you into the universe.

Can't wait for MW5!!
