SNK Playmore and Arc System Works deliver PlayStation classics

Fighting fans will be looking at the PlayStation 3 in a new light following the latest PlayStation Archives update in Japan. Sony added eleven games to the download service today, including a bunch of 2D fighting classics from SNK Playmore and Arc System Works.

Here's the list of what's new.

Guilty Gear (Arc System Works)
Spectral Tower (Idea Factory)
Spectral Force 2 (Idea Factory)
Suna no Embrace (Idea Factory)
The King of Fighters '95 (SNK Playmore)
The King of Fighters '96 (SNK Playmore)
The King of Fighters '97 (SNK Playmore)
Samurai Spirits Kenkaku Yubinan Pack (SNK Playmore)
Real Bout Fatal Fury Special Dominated Mind (SNK Playmore)
Little Princess Marl Oukoku no Ningyouhime 2 (Nippon Ichi)
Septentrion (Hamster)

All these games are playable on both the PlayStation 3 and PSP platforms. Each game is priced at 600 yen, reflecting the new, slightly higher pricing that was announced earlier in the month.

The story is too old to be commented.

I wish some of these would come out in the US or Europe Servers. Japan has been getting lots of old PS1 games to play on the PSP or PS3 but the rest of the world is left out.

Yeah i think they have forgotton about Europe,Not that i want to play games from 20 years ago.I want next generation software as thats what i paid my money for and not crappy old school so called arcade games from the second world war...

Why dont some company do things different and not try and be like Microsoft with there crappy arcade games from the past that nobody in there forties is interested in.

I'm sure more than a few of these great titles will be coming to the U.S. and European markets soon. You know the Japanese get first shot on anything SNE (I mean they make it - why not?)so this is not a big deal to me. It will come.

Games like:
The King of Fighters '95 (SNK Playmore)
The King of Fighters '96 (SNK Playmore)
The King of Fighters '97 (SNK Playmore)
are so nostalgic to me - bringing back great memories and hours of fun. Must admit, I'd love to see Samurai Showdown in that list. Man, that game was superb.

Despite needing some proper English lessons, I'm not quite sure what you mean by, " nobody in there forties is interested in." Do you mean only people in their forties is interested in the product? Remember time2die, most of the best games ever made came along shortly after those forty year olds were born. From the 70's to the new Millenium - games were made that have made GAMING the best hobby and one of the most popular businesses to be in - on the planet.

Not sure what "crappy" XBox arcade games your talking about either, because I'll play Rush 'N Attack til the cows come home, but moreover arcade games are from a more pure, simple and gamer - friendly era. So if you don't like good 'ol arcade games then you're the one not staying true to form. Remember, one day you'll be one of those 40 year olds one day wishing you could play SOCOM 3 or Project 8 on the PS5 or XBox 1080. Think before you speak.

Cheers

Do what i do mate and have 3 accounts for the 3 different countrys like Europe ,japan and the Usa.

I have been playing ninja gaiden sigma demo for weeks from the usa playstation store.

This is the only way round it and at least you dont have to wait for Sony to think of Europe,Downside is you need to have a registered credit card in the usa to buy certain stuff,I am not sure if buying credit from a shop in this country will be as good .You know when you buy Microsoft points to use for paying for downloadable content.

Maddens Raiders I agree with you that in time Sony has to bring more of these games out and will. But there has not been much talk about it that they will. I will say that PSN still is in its early stages still and so things like this will happen. But at the same time there are some games that should have been easy to bring over.

Also if Sony really wants to do some thing sweet with PSN may be in the future Sony could bring out games that only stayed in Japan and give them English. I am not saying just English other languages too. This way people could see why so many people liked them when they came out before. So this way new people get to see what was so great about that game before that would never have had a chance too.
