its a shame really, nintendo are doing well but i feel sorry for all the people that bought the wii at launch, because there would have bean alot of people buying it thinking it was next gen and not really knowing its nothing more then a xbox1
the sales are great but i feel for the people who will get shafted in a year or two when the wii is collecting dust because nobody wants to support it, even now its getting ps2 ports, updated gamecube games and just bad ports of true next gen games

I would have to agree with you. I have owned the wii little over a month now and the novelty has worn off and its collecting dust. Even if the Wii surpasses 360 sales I dont think it will remain there at the end of the lifecycle. I can't see them playing off the gimmik for 5 years. Nintendo is also in the same shoes as sony at the moment, they have few good games and the rest are crappy ports. But the main difference is that sony has some good games comming in the future, what does nintendo have comming mario galaxy? and what else?? Unless you like last gen tech or are a kid that is easily ammused please stay away from the wii and buy a 360 or ps3.

Funny picture!!! I personally dont put the Wii in the same category of next gen. The Xbox360 and ps3 are the only ones that should carry that title. The Wii console is definitely last gen power but I guess you can make an argument that it has next gen gameplay. Although motion controllers have been around before the wii but never fully utilized like the wii.

Montion sensing does NOT make it next gen, trust me. Motion sensing has been around for years. I also have to note that the motion sense in the wii mote is far from accurate all the time, and at times is frustrating with games such as wii sports that require some precision.

The Wii is very cheap and the controller helps, if it surpassed the Xbox 360 in sales, it wouldn't come as a shock to me.

I personally think maybe next time around, that Microsoft and Nitendo should sort of merge to create an "Uber Console"-Microsoft's software and online services put together with Nintendo's vision of what Next-Gen really is. Now THAT would be a console to buy.

6 months ago, which was December 2006, the Xbox 360 console was well on its way to hitting 8.5 million units sold. Since the end of December 2006, only an additional 1.3_ million consoles have been sold worldwide. I have thus kept my announced sales figures, which of course are taken from reputable and accurate sources, very up to date.

The reason you and a few others are so angry at my "slow sales progression" is because the 360 itself has suffered from a slow sales progression. Take your immaturity and anger out on someone else.

I in no way hinted at, nor referred to Sony's platform within my post, thus I fail to see your reasoning in going off-topic. It's impossible that the 360 had sold 9.8 million units by November 2006 since that many units weren't even shipped to retailers at that point.

Retailers have had a massive surplus of Xbox 360 units, so much that 1.9 million units were still sitting on shelves after 2006 holiday season (8.5 million sold vs 10.4 million shipped to retail). I know it's painful to accept these facts, but the 360's performance over the past 18 months has been disappointing to say the least.

We know that already. Just stop it dude. 1.3 million 360's sold world wide since december? Please. The 360 sold between 200 and 300k monthly in North America alone. Now at the end of May that alone makes 1 to 1.5 million 360's sold.

Then we add Europe, which sold probably about as much, so lets keep it low, add another million on that. Japan alone doesn't really ad (neither for the PS3 by the way), but with India, Australia etc etc. I bet you can add some.

The PS3 on the other hand:

2 months in a row (feb/march) 130k in North America
Last month 89k in North America

Japan monthly now 32k
And Europe will balance around the same as NA. So the PS3 is selling world wide about what the 360 sells in North America alone!

The 360 shipped 10 million when the PS3 launched, not at the end of december as you want to believe. Yep Moore lowered the sales forecast for June to 12 million sold, but why did he do that? Probably to be able to say at E3: it's an succes, we surpassed our expectations and sold 15 million (about the initial sales forecast).

When we compare North American vs. Worldwide sales, nearly 6.3 million of all sales for the console take place in North America (U.S. & Canada), while the other 3.5 million are from 35 other countries within PAL and Asian territories.

Sure the Wii will steal some one console per houshold families/gamers but what company is the Wii really competing against?. Wii is in its own sub market and to me the Wii is in a place like a sub console market somwhere between handhelds and HD consoles.

the Wii is not selling well. Quite frankly, for a console thats hard to come by,it is. When the Xbox 360 was hard to come by, the first couple of months, that was due to MS and their manufacturing issues.(that's all you MS)

1. If the Xbox360 was as plentiful (on every retail shelve I go to) like the PS3, it probably would have sold a lot more to gamers that were eager to try out the console early on. Then, the whole red Rings issue probably scared away many customers.(hey its the truth) With Ms getting these issues behind them, I expect a really good push in sales, this coming holiday.

2. The wii is what every other competitor is not. It's CHEAP, and Nintendo have kept it SIMPLE. They grab the interest of the young, casual, hardcore, simple, and nostalgic gamer. Don't ask me why but its working. (I'm still not sure for how long but yeah..)

3. Also Wii developers kits cost $1200, MS's around $15,000 and Sony for about $30,000, so Expect to see a sh!t loads of games for the Wii in the coming future. When it's that cheap to develop for, Nintendo will get a lot of love from not only little studios (that can't afford Xbox360 and PS3) kits but from Huge ones as well. (all the matter of co ming up with the types of games that take use of the "Chucks")

END - I think the Wii does have a chance to catch up this holiday season, but I stress the Xbox 360 have one Monster and some other great titles coming out. Will them games push consoles?..well in due time we will find out.

Added to that, if you even remotely keep up with the NPD results you’ll find that the 360 barely reaches the 200k mark for units sold each month. Just to indulge the fanboys, let’s say that M$ did SELL 9 million by last year November...counting up until now (at an even 200k per month, which the Xbox 360 is not selling consistently) that would only add 1.2 mil to its current installed base and possibly put it near the figures featured on nextgenwars.com.

But that’s not the case at all, Xbox 360 sales were up in April and it only shifted 175,000 units, according to the NPD. Or what, are you going to start saying they’re lying because they’re Sony supporters? Please, NPD reported the sales for the PS3 as a drooling and slouching George Foreman grill with only 80k units.
