Haze Preview And Exclusive Screenshots

Premiered at last years' E3, Free Radical's Haze caused quite a bit of buzz at the event. Coming from a developer with a rich FPS pedigree, with such games as GoldenEye, TimeSplitters and Second Sight on their resume, and originally billed as a squad-based first-person shooter, everything about Haze went silent after last year's big show. That is until just a few weeks ago, when Ubisoft held its perennial pre-E3 event, dubbed UbiDays.

GI got a few moments with Free Radical's Creative Director David Doak to find out everything that has changed with the game and to see what they have in store for gamers when the game is released for the PlayStation 3 this holiday.

Looks OK.

Hate the color filtering, its hard to say why every PS3 game thats suppose to be on the realalistic side of art seems to have a yellow or green haze. Could every dev that develope non artoon looking games on the PS3 all have the same art style?. I'm thinking on the 360 side of this fence this game will fall well short of Halo and won't even touch games such as Huxely.

I do believe it has a yellowish color because the character wears a helmet with a yellow visor (most of the suit is also yellow). I think it is supposed to the like the cross com on Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (1&2).

Maybe you should take a closer look because the graphics do not at all look "artoon" as you put it. Also, please don't compare games to each other until you have played both and can make a fair judgment.

"As you play four-player cooperative, if someone drops out an A.I. character will take over. Whether or not you’ll then be able to swap someone else in automatically, or have some sort of drop-in-drop-out cooperative isn’t clear at the moment, and Free Radical is still wrestling with the PlayStation Network to see if it can handle it."

OOOOPPSSSSS

I can foresee another game having extended online features for the 360 and having less or none for the PS3... ouch...

Dude, they got the info from Free Radical..

"We got a few moments with Free Radical’s Creative Director David Doak to find out everything that has changed with the game and to see what they have in store for gamers when the game is released for the PlayStation 3 this holiday."

So clearly David told them they have to see if the PSN network can get it done. They clearly programmed the option, used in a closed LAN, but it might fail on the PSN. Because they told it to the reviewer it would be the truth, RIGHT?!

I know you want to have the most positive news for the PS3 although you don't own one, but be fair, it's in the article, it's said by David, Creative Director of Haze... What's there to discuss now?

so in halo when people drop out of games, as they often do, other people can drop right into the game, or an AI character will take its place so you dont have 2 on 4 matches, thats a cool thing halo does.

I do own one Mart :) Ps. who knows when the interview was taken, and what IMPRESSION they may have got from them...but they appeared very SET on the idea and were making PROMISES. ANd I'll tell you now, the PSN can support it....it can support very good coop. Eg. Resistance, Motorstorm. It's just an unknown entity at the mo.

"or have some sort of drop-in-drop-out cooperative isn’t clear at the moment" Actually they are wrong there. Free Radical made it clear when demoing the ps3 version that their main feature was that you could drop in and out. They said they were very proud of that feature on the PS3...and actually wouldn't shut up about it on the live demo. Go watch for yourself marty.

Ahh. So you finally got one too! LoL at POG's Comment about this game's colors filter being a green HAZE. Ha ha ha ha... Yeah, anyway, this game looks fantastic, the character models are great, the environments are crisp and the game seems to run pretty well given the demo stuff I've seen. And now I don't have to wait until 08' to play it ;)

is missing the wow factor.

Violater3831d ago (Edited 3830d ago )

For the Haze vs Halo screens.
So correct me if I'm wrong, Halo 3 looks better than Haze and Gears looks better than UT3???

Its getting hard to see over the mountain

and those aren't crabcakes
