Satoru Iwata has said that he doesn't understand why some people claim that Nintendo has lost its edge when it comes to other companies taking on motion technology.
Well, you know how casuals are... They are hyped for something one day then the other day it's like nothing have happened. Now go and bring the Wii2 for them to return and then do the same again.
Nintendo HAS lost it's edge. I really wish they'd bring more games for the hardcore gamer. The first party is great and all, but seriously more wouldn't hurt.
They hit a demographic that Sony and MS had, for the most part, ignored. Kudos. But don't try to tell me you have the same "hardcore" games as Sony and MS. If I only had a Wii for my main system I think I'd be really peeved.
it cuz of hardcore people saying that nintendo has lost the edge. graphics, no new ips, etc i think nintendo is doing great in bringing out their games and stuff
Well, they're still releasing quality content, but some may argue that they have a softer edge now because of their focus on casual content.
Hm. I'm not really sure about this. Although, I think Nintendo was edgier in previous years, like 2004.
Who told him it was because of the motion controls? The man is trying to run a multi-million dollar company here, stop telling him lies.
The only motion control that will be successful this gen is the Wii. They haven't lost their edge....they just decided to target a much different demographic.
haven't been the same since N64 :(
He actually meant dumbfounded, and of course the have look at what types of games dominate their list compared to the snes days.
the wii has a good number of "hardcore" games. "hardcore" gamers complain there's no "hardcore" games on the wii, but yet when they come out they say, "it should have been on the ps360!!!!"
Really? And I mean really? I'd agree that the Wii has some really awesome stuff (Metroid Prime Trilogy, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, etc...), but those are all owned by Nintendo. It's like wishing Halo would come to the Wii, or Uncharted to the 360. It's just not possible. So "wishing"? No, not a chance. If there were other hardcore games, preferably new IPs that were as good, then yes, I could see where your comment might actually make some sense. Seriously though, if you think I'm still wrong, list some to prove me otherwise. I'd love to play them. Yes, I own a Wii. The only ones I can think of is stuff like Little King's Story, No More Heroes, Madworld, and Zack and Wiki. Not a whole lot. That's alright though. There's already enough games out to justify buying a Wii. I'm not harping on you for that. Just think you got a little carried away there. Those "hardcore" gamers do have a point.
Wich games are you talking about indeed ? So far i've mostly only seen wishes for Monster hunter 3 , No more Heroes (and a few tatsunoko Vs capcom) . I dont recall anyone crying over missing out red steel , the conduit or spyborg And quite frankly , as much as i enjoyed No more Heroes , and await the sequel , i dont see really how it needs or truly use the wii . It's not at all as if the game had some edge or extra manoeuvrability thanks to the wiimote and especially compared to other action games like , dmc , gow , ninja gaiden or bayonetta . It doesnt even reproduce your moves , and mostly let you waggle at times . nothing you couldnt have done the same way by spamming buttons . The only thing certain , is that on ps3/360 the game's tech could actually match the awesome's artstyle and go further in Suda's wackiness . The wii got a few great 3rd party games , but alot of those dont really use the hardware properly , unlike stuff like PES on wii . And to add further salt in those injuries , many of those looks like they'd sell far better among the hardcore crowd on ps3/360. Wich is probably why we'll see a lot of wii to natal/ps3 wand conversion i suspect .
He's got a point to be honest. For Sony and MS to introduce motion control to their consoles, then surely the developers should be at the stage where they can easily surpass Wii Sports. but why hasn't it been done? If developers can't emulate (or beat) the success Nintendo has with their games, how does that bode for the competition's motion control?
I'm assuming by "edge" they mean top spot in motion control goodness. I'm pretty sure there isn't a game out yet for either the PS3 or 360 that tops the Wii for motion control. BUT, the latter two systems could do a 1UP on the Wii if they produce a game to match their respected potential.
They really need to start making serious games, and not this junk for little kids. I mean Zelda, Mario, and Metroid are excellent games, but come on Nintendo you should remember the good old days when the SNES reigned supreme; that is until Sony took over, and by the way i love Sony. I understand this is a business and that means money, however they have lost the edge in that every game now for the Wii is made for a 5 year old. I look at it now more as a toy than an entertainment system, but if people enjoy it and have fun with it, everyone is entitled to whatever they want or like so this was just my opinion. Take care everyone.
Nintendo lost their edge when all they can do is rely on old franchises. I have a Wii and i've been a gamer longer than the rest of you so don't tell me i don't know what i'm talking about. I remember having a Nes and was so amazed at the number of games to play on that system. Don't get me wrong i still find some worthy games on the Wii but that is so few that the majority of the games i have are for my daughter. Nintendo HAD the edge when they were pumping out lots of new titles and franchises.
well, some of the wii games i was talking about, would be the M rated ones, MADWORLD, NMH, DS:E, The Conduit, [NMH2, Read steel 2] Monster hunter tri. these are "hardcore" games, yet people say they would sell better on the ps360, and some other ones too, like TvC, Little King's Story, and others that aren't rated M. plus ports of okmai and RE4.i'm not saying the wii has tons of "hardcore" games out there, but they should have enough to tie most people over hell, i've heard people say mario would sell better on the ps3 T_T
I doubt anyone would care about the wii's fps to begin with . None suffer the comparision to pc/360/ps3 in gameplay and technique , aside from Metroid , wich is nintendo anyway . And come on that mario on ps3 guy is obviously a troll . Anyway yes there are a few good HC title ... but it's still far too few , and disparate in quality . Both the ps3 and 360 got titles that make each of their fanboy green of jealousy , same with the ds or psp .. the wii not so much ... It bothers me little as i set out to only buy a small selection of title when i bought it at launch (smash bros , soccer brawl , Fire Emblem , Mario kart , Metroid ) and since only added a few (i'd even follow a tales of game on Ngage).. and that's exactly what i did . But i can definitely see why it would irks many . Especially when lots of those titles , nintendo ones aside , dont even truly benefits from the wiimote .
