Modern Warfare 2 pre-orders hit 2.4 million in America

Brett Walton "Modern Warfare 2 preorders close in on 2.4 million across Xbox360 and PS3 with another week to go, final preorders should hit 2.6 million with a week one of 3.5-4 million in the Americas, and another 2-2.5m in Europe and other regions. With such a high average retail price, week one revenue predictions of over $500m and the title becoming the biggest entertainment launch of all-time seem likely to become true"

much less pre-ordering it. Don't get me wrong, the COD series has been a blast, but having played every iteration thus far this generation (COD 3, COD 4, and COD WAW) I've just plain played this series to death. Additionally, the increased price many players throughout the world are facing to play this game, coupled with the lack of dedicated servers for PC gamers, makes me think Infinity Ward is taking just a few too many liberties this time around.

As an alternative I'm playing Uncharted 2, Borderlands (on 360) and Dragon Age: Origins on PC.

I know I'm probably alone in this, but I just don't give a crap about Modern Warfare 2. The first game had a good campaign and the multiplayer was good, but it's not the best game ever. At the end of the day, it's your standard FPS. People call Halo and KZ2 generic FPS, but you can't get any more generic than MW2.

I'll probably still give it a go, but I really wouldn't care if I never played the game.

I am up to my elbows in games to play through right now and this game will probably cost me my girlfriend.. oh well women are like buses..there is always another one coming.

The Killer3276d ago

women are liked buses in the west, not with muslims, muslim women are likes diamonds and the only way to get them is through marriage.

the funny thing is western women keep saying that muslim women are oppressed but never bothered to ask the muslim women them selfs if they think they are oppressed or not and also they dont say how the western women is being used as u said Buses, there is always another bus to come by, or like toilets when ever a man wants to use it go to toilet and do his think and when he finishes he leaves, then another man comes and do the same, similar to what happens to women in the west.

any way if the women are happy then let them do what ever they want.

on topic.

MW2 will be a good game not doubts but i will never buy it LOL, torrents deserve MW2 more than the greedy Activision.

Beast_Master3276d ago

Do you live in the US? Because most muslim men that live in the US are whores. These men grow up in an oppressed society and come to the united states and "DISCO DISCO" and live only to get as much "Sticky" as they can. Muslim men (US) are about as loyal to women as children are to broccoli. Watch "Don't mess with the Zohan" I know the character is Jewish but that dude is all of you Middle Eastern/Eastern European Men.

The Killer3276d ago

u have some good point, and thats why muslims are going backwards, but still when it comes to women we have more respect.

but what men do and thats the not religious men is not like what women do.

the punishment in islam for a husband who cheats on his wife is death by stoning, so its very serious crime but unfortunately man muslim world is in a coma now, but never forget that we were leading the world in science before some centuries when the European were in mid evil time. so its a cycle, but my point is islam gives women so much respect, if men dont respect their women then thats the mans fault. and dont be surprised if the men in US likes to DISCO DISCO since its an american culture, the west is leading the world now with technology and its no surprise people around the world would copy you.

there is good and bad with the western cultures, and there is good and bad with muslim culture but islam is ONLY good. it came as a mercy from God to humanity and what muslims do these days is not what islam teaches them.

I will admit, Amazon's $20 credit caught me. 1/3 off a game in the future is a pretty big incentive to me to preorder. I only preorder from Amazon though.

Bnet3433276d ago

Not surprised by the preorders, I preordered mine last week on Amazon. The game will be huge. Can't wait for MW2 next Tuesday. The online is so action packed with the new modes, it's will be insane. See you peeps online! :)

MAG has very high preorders for a new game with so many weeks to go

NegativeCreepWA3276d ago

Because you get a beta code with a reservation at gamestop.

raztad3276d ago (Edited 3276d ago )

@Scar

It makes sense, however the upside is that those preorders still stand (not canceled) so most probably beta players are happy with the game.

Homicide3275d ago

Zipper probably has a solid fanbase as well.

divideby03276d ago

why would anyone want to preorder this game.

didnt get anything of value for the preorder AND there will be tons of copies AND I am waiting to see who has the sale..

Gish3276d ago

Amazon has a $20 credit for future game purchases. GOW collection would only be $15 after that.

LoLZoRz3276d ago

daaayum thats a lot of people to play online
