One of the heavily requested PS3 features won't make it onto the XMB in 2009.
Cross game voice chat, known as system voice chat, was scheduled to be included in a PlayStation 3 Firmware Update (probably 3.10) "before the end of 2009". Unfortunately, we've just received unofficial word that the feature has been apparently delayed, presumably into 2010.
There was no specific reason given for the postponement of the much requested XMB feature at this point. Although 2010 was mentioned, no new date or window of deployment has been provided at this time.
We'll keep you updated if anything changes.
