Nintendo Wii To Beat PS3,Xbox 360 Because Of Simplicity?

Wii is going to beat the competition because powerful chips and graphics have yet to motivate PS3 and Xbox 360 sales,according to Nintendo Of America's George Harrison.Fun trumps all.

Although many house-holds(millions) only buy one console (and yes the Wii has stolen those types of casual gamers/consumers) i dont think its competing with the more advanced consoles. It could hurt Sony and MS a little because like i said alot of people only have time etc for one console.

the wii is a gamecube and has a 99% chance of having the same fate as the cube... two years from now no one will be playing the thing, and thats when i will buy it from my local gamestop for $75.

p.s. i actually AM a nintendo fan... i own ALL of their systems, nes to the gamecube, gameboy to the ds, aside from the wii (i wont spend $250 to buy a system i already own, that being a gamecube, just for a funny controller) and if you dont belive me that i love nintendo i'll share this little bit of info with you the first rpg i ever played all the way till the end was earthbound one of the most underrated rpgs around... only a true ninendo fan would know what im talking about.

The Nintendo Wii won't last very long,it's only a matter of time before gamers get bored and buy a PS3 or Xbox 360 if they haven't already.

I think the Wii is a different type of gaming system comparing to PS3 and 360.

Exactly, the Wii has sidestepped what the PS3 and 360 are aiming to achieve and gone for a whole new market. And it has and will continue to be a great success for them. There are some great titles on the horizon, Mario, Metroid Prime 3.

Since I bought a PS3 my Wii doesnt get much play time but Im still glad I own one. They are cheap enough to get out and play whenever you feel like. Theres nothing like a drunken game of tennis when you have your mates over.

that'll happen is if they end this horrible lack of production. It's kind of hard to sell a system when you don't have any at retailors. Judging by their great tactics with the DS something tells me Wii will be in short stock for another year or so... Power to 'em though. I'm always a sucker for the comeback stories

Wii's sales r rocketing due to the price, the controller, the type of games.

These can all be copied, modified and adapted by the next gen consoles. And they certainly will especially with the EVOLUTION of the controller.

Undoubtedly, Sony will bring out its own version of the Wii controller in future gen consoles as gamers demand to be more involved in the gaming experience.

So copy, modify, adapt anything that clearly works. Commonsense really. Simplicity.....

it sounds like y'all are "hardcoregamers", even if it scares ya think outside the box, we gamers aint the only one in this world.

They'll surpass them with something better. Video motion recognition is much better than waggle. There's holography too. The Wiimote is not the ultimate dream in interactivity, and it's certainly not leaps and bounds over the Sixaxis, or anything for that matter.

I was the most excited person in the world for the Wii, but I realized it was all hype when I played it. Furthermore, the rumored specs for the Wii were initially 2.5 Ghz quad core, then 1.8 Ghz Dual core, then it ended up being a 733 Mhz gamecube processor, so naturally the excitement for owning the same console repackaged with a higher price tag and a controller that didn't live up to the hype I had for it killed the Wii for me.

Of course, casuals are delighted because of "simplicity" as harrison says, but I want something more complex. It doesn't need to be a PS3 or 360 controller, it can be something like the Wiimote; just not so simple, so cheap, and with such a lack of precision, i.e. lack of cutting-edge entertainment technology (and I'm not just talking about graphics of horsepower in general).
