Music game war spills onto iPhone

Not content with dominating the traditional console music game market, EA's all-conquering Rock Band franchise is rocking the iPhone, as of Monday. Can this big name survive in the bargain-basement world of the App Store?

On the iPhone, Rock Band plays out exactly like its console counterparts -- except without the home-decor-disaster plastic instrument controllers. Instead of strumming, hitting, or singing, you're tapping areas on the screen in time with the tune. Beyond that, the game structure, visual style, and feel are all straight from the larger consoles. It even has local multiplayer, via Bluetooth. (Mobile, PSP, Rock Band, Rock Band Unplugged)
