It's a paid for timed exclusive. They never admit to the other version until later. Wake up.

EA owns Bioware now. All EA owned developers are multi.

Thing is the PS3 version will have the DLC included when it releases.

This is NOT the same as Orange Box and Left 4 Dead because EA doesn't own them

Microsoft rightfully label exclusives on the front of 360 game boxes. Check out the covers for Halo 3 ODST, and Forza 3 as well as third party games such as Gears of War 2. However the official box design for Mass Effect 2 on Xbox 360 doesn't have this tag.

As DirthHairyJoystick has speculated, it is probably a paid for timed exclusive. This happened with the first Bioshock game. When the 360 version released, 2Kgames had a PS3 version in development but could not reveal anything in case it affected the paid for Microsoft promotions. It's just business. But if a PS3 version is released it would make sense to be 1&2 combined.

Thanks for the old news, thegamereviews.com.

I'll still buy it day one on 360, and for bringing my character from Mass Effect over.

But I'll definitely support its transition to PS3 whenever that is.

Man this game is amazing, if you dont own a 360 I recommend you grab it for your PC.

I would gladly pay double for part 2.

thesummerofgeorge3266d ago

They certainly didn't "kill" any rumor. They just reiterated old news and pawned off paraphrasing for quotes. Honestly, there's absolutely nothing of substance here.

I tend to be pretty level headed and calm but I can't hold my tongue any longer.
N4G is a BS PS3 fansite. 2 days ago I submitted a similar story, said the same things pretty much but because the headline said Still no Mass Effect 2 for PS3, it wasn't approved.
Some people complained it was a duplicate when it was in fact not since my submission had additional info.
Along comes this bull [email protected] and everyone laps it up because it ignites hope in the crybaby PS3 fanbase and doesn't hurt their sensitive girl feelings.
I expect this comment to be reported and to lose my bubbles or even get banned, but at least I won't have to contend with this bullsh!t no more

ndibu3266d ago

is not written on it because it isnt only on Xbox 360, its on PC as well...same goes for L4D...come on, did you even think before speculating?

PS3 slim3266d ago

Think? They make sh*t up!.

Arnon3266d ago

You realize Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2 are PC/360 only, yet it doesn't say "Only on Xbox 360" on both covers, right? The reason? Because it's not exclusive to the 360, just as Mass Effect 1 & 2 aren't right now. Oh, and by the way, EA published Left 4 Dead 1 & 2.

rroded3265d ago (Edited 3265d ago )

seems like a sure bet Now for how long n how well will they treat the ps3 versions. Lets just hope for the best.

ms would pay large for any big AAA exclusive at this point imo Worst considering the flaws they passed on the first one on the 360 well lets just hope they do a better job this time. Fact they are putting it on ps at the same time is good.

I have faith they can pull a flawless game on the 360 yet.

I'm glad to see that ME2 is passing onto the PS3 as well because perhaps this will knock another nail in the coffin of PS3/Xbox 360 wars. If we have the same games, we can play them for hours, and spend less time squabbling on Net forums. Probably impossible, but I can dream.

Would be cool if ME2 went everywhere, but PS3 fans sure will be confused unless they get 1 first...

kissmeimgreek3266d ago

thats a whole new game with its own story, protagonist, and new locations. Mass Effect 2 is continuing exactly where ME1 ended. there will be a lot of confusion if you havent played the first game

xenogamer3266d ago

yeah, just like condemed 2.

Noob3266d ago

Just like Saints Row 2

GameOn3266d ago (Edited 3266d ago )

They sure will miss a lot of the story if they dont get to play the first installment. I guess they can always go and read up on the story on the web though.
Id compare missing the first Mass Effect to missing the first Lord of the rings film then watching the second. Still a great watch but you dont know what has lead up to the events.

pippoppow3266d ago

They could have a 10min movie sequence detailing events from the first game and the manual can have details and character profiles with a short bio attached to detail any important facs and relationships. Also your character could start out with a higher skill level template, weapons, powers, etc to start the game. Sure not as good as actually playing the first game and importing a character but it would do.

Noob3266d ago (Edited 3266d ago )

Seems fairly simple. I guess people would argue it's not as good as playing the actual game but will fill people in, right? This is assuming this will actually happen(ME2 on PS3). At this point, who knows. We all know the ending to similar situations like this, both PS3 and 360, it's happened before. If MS publishing games couldn't stop it(think NG2), I don't think anything else can. At this point it's stupid to try and argue about it imo.

presto7173266d ago

Considering that ME 1 is dirt cheap now.

IaMs123266d ago

Yes they could do that, but thats a lame excuse. Whats the fun in that, when you can just play it. Im finding it very funny that the PS3 people are resorting to this kind of speculation to reading about the first game to be able to play the 2nd. Honestly guys, i think they will sell ME1 before ME2 for the PS3 anyways. Its like bringing God of War III to the 360 when the first 2 iterations werent even on the platform yet. Now i do remember MGS2 being ported to Xbox and not the 1st one but that was back then this is now... Unless they did port MGS1 did Xbox
