Worldofwar.net offers a brief step-by-step on how to attach a Blizzard Authenticator to your World of Warcraft and Battle.net Account to add an extra layer of protection to keep your in-game gold and gear safe from theft.
Awesome. I got one of these from a previous BlizzCon. cheers.
A local net cafe near me was selling them. I thought for $10 why not. My wow account was hacked twice dont want the same thing happening to a future diablo 3 account!
This thing is a pretty good idea. Never had my WoW account hacked. Even if it was hacked now that I no longer play it I'd still be pretty damn annoyed.
Awesome :) as an authenticator user I believe it is brilliant, if not just a little bit tedious when you forget you have it :P
Cool, definately good to get this info out there. Also, the Mobile Authenticators are a really good option aswell.
This little tool is handy indeed.
I reluctantly attached one to my account about a month ago. It's a pain in the arse having to enter a code from the thing every time I log on, and I'm terrified of losing it or the battery running out, but I suppose it's better than losing my hard-earned characters and gold.
I have 2. all I need now is WoW? Wonder if they'll be needed for SC2 and D3 over B.net?
Isn't it just a way for Blizzard to get more money from us?
I know its crazy, i heard there are companies like this popping up all over the place, i mean can you believe that these people are offering a service and trying to make money from it??
The worst part is they are like 6 bucks and free shipping! They must be making millions off of these things!
no but, those companies more then likely know your passcodes and log in times now. ever think of that one.
Not exactly. It's a way to protect your account from theft. I have heard so many people in my server have lost their gold or gear, and all their bank stuff. It's really terrifying that this could happen to anyone, specially you. So an extra layer of protection is very welcome. Look at it this way, does Yahoo offer other layers of protection to protect your classified personal email? Anyone can use brute force to enter your email account. Does Paypal offer this? I mean, hello ... anyone who gets into your paypal account can literally take money out of your bank through paypal and send himself money if they steal a third person's checks or transfer the money to Nigeria where there's no jurisdiction to claim the money back. Now that's scary. What about your bank online service? Do all banks give you an authenticator to make sure only you have access to withdrawing or transferring money? Blizzard is giving you that extra protection option. I love it. And I don't need to feel scared I could be the next to lose gold and gear.
