Thunderbolt: Demon's Souls Review

Thunderbolt writes: "Demon's Souls may make you throw controllers. It could possibly make you hate everything you've ever loved. It will probably make you yell curse words very, very loudly. It's also some of the best fun to be had on the PS3. It's difficult by design, and it never really feels cheap; every problem has a solution, and the journey is undeniably fun. A game that uses the same points for buying items as it does for leveling up (yes, Souls are currency as well as XP) may sound like an exercise in torture, but Demon's Souls may just make a sadomasochist out of you". (Demon's Souls, PS3) 9/10

I hate this game!

*Slings the controller across the room and runs off crying*

So glad I got this game :D

So that's the initial reaction of one who purchases Demon's Souls eh?

Awesome. =P

Don't want to spend money on gaming right now as I have other priorities at hand but once I do, the first game I'll purchase in like 10 months would be this one.

Nah not so much if anything it made me just say random things when I die instead of swearing, like just a few moments ago I just started saying Fiddle-Faddle for no reason instead of dammit...dunno why.

That's going to be a long 10 months without the gentle cradling arms of Demon's Souls :(

I am really iffy on this game. I might check it out before purchasing.

What aspects of it makes it iffy? May be able to answer some things or is it one of those "I have to see it with my own eyes and play it with my own hands before I can judge" type of deals?

I am more concerned about the difficulty. I don't want to spend $100 on a game that I might not enjoy because I am too frustrated.

I have no doubt about the quality of the game, I've downloaded the videos on PSN.

Oh I see now and understand, yeah the difficulty can put a lot of people off. I mean in the past two minutes I died at least 3~4 times, by an one of the same enemies because of his one hit kill. It's definitely a game that can have it's moments, but feels rewarding all the same.

At $100.00 (I'm assuming Australia?) It would certainly make for a hard choice. For this type of game a demo would be good, or at least giving it a quick run at a friend's house to see how it fares against your tastes. This one is hard to say actually, the difficulty is quite "eye-opening" basically as soon as you walk into a level you have the possibility of dying where you stand.

I honestly don't know what to say at this point, the difficulty is hard; but it's the fun aspect of the game (for me actually), but not sure how it would fair for you :/

A demo would be nice, but I may just rent it out to see, if there is no demo.

Amazing game. Almost as good as Uncharted 2.

I actually have my oldest dualshock controller ready for this game :)

Thats a good idea!
And I will keep my Anger Management coach and therapist on speed dial, a bottle of prozac on the nightstand, and a box of kittens nearby because its near impossible to stay pissed when you have a box of kittens :)
