Where did Warhammer Online Go Wrong?

Less than a year ago, Warhammer Online was one of the hottest games on the market. With over 1.4 million sales in the first few months, it looked like it could be a serious competitor to World of Warcraft.

Now, after the closing of over 60 servers, Warhammer limps along with 100 to 200 thousand subscribers (at best). The 6 remaining servers are near ghost towns, with more players (and entire guilds) quitting regularly.

Inability to handle large battles, massive class and server population imbalance, and weak end game RvR/PvP are three of the primary reasons the game is failing. This article looks at those reasons and more in great detail.

The sad story of Warhammer Online's fall from grace is an interesting and insightful read. (Culture, PC, Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, Warhammer Online: Land of the Dead)
