ODST: Disc-read errors and A Quick-Fix Solution

A growing number of users are receiving Disc Read errors on copies of Halo 3: ODST.

According to the Bungie forums the problems are occuring on the ODST disc mostly on older 360 Elite models, rather than the Halo 3 multiplayer disc.

Later on in the thread, a Bungie employee asks for Private Messages from users experiencing issues, detailing exactly what's going wrong so that Bungie can remedy the issue.

A quick fix for the solution appears to be...

My Elite
is a 2008 Model.. will this affect me from playing ODST?

It shouldn't, I think...
I think they mean the older Elite; maybe like early 2007, if you have an early 08' you may be affected, but I doubt it, though. If you do run into any troubles, just follow the directions on the link and it should work fine. As a matter of fact, I'd just to it anyways; you can always delete it when you're finished.

I'll have to double check, but I think it's only 3.5 GB to install; I really didn't pay attention, I was just glad to find a solution.

lol love how they joke about the AI driving, hell i was driving the AI the other day and he shot a wall with a rocket launcher and killed us both. I tried to get a screen shot of it but it didnt work out to well.

I read this game has been ready since march, so why didn't they test it and fix all issues? More and more it's a shame this isn't a DLC anymore. It's a full blown piece of junk and waste of money.

Why are there issues with a lot of MS exclusives? Sigh i'm just glad i made the switch to PS3 because dealing with errors and failures all the time after spending hundreds of dollars is extremely frustrating. But a lot of MS xbox fans are young and prolly didn't even pay for the system and that explains the denial i see over the net regarding MS's piece of sh!t. Disc read errors???? and the disk isn't even scratched? lol

The Uncharted freezing issues about drove me up a frackin wall. SO frustrating (especially if you're playing for trophies).

the patch that caused uncharted to freeze? the one they patched a few days later? yea, sony took care of us on that one. we didn't have to manually fix our broken discs.
