ABI: Consoles to Lead Vid Download Market

Next-Gen spoke with ABI Research director Mike Wolf, who said in five years video download revenues from game consoles will outpace those from other products such as Apple TV.

Wolf said that by 2012, North American Internet-to-TV video solutions (not to be confused with IPTV) will hit $1.5 billion in service revenue.

The interesting part is that Wolf expects video downloads through game consoles such as the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to make up 58 percent of those total revenues by 2012, beating out dedicated Internet-to-TV products such as Apple TV.
