Sony "Working Hard" To Ensure No PS3 Shortages

"Earlier today, we reported on a Reuters article, in which SCEA chief executive Jack Tretton stated that it was possible that the PlayStation 3 could suffer from shortages this holiday season.

"If things continue at this pace, it is conceivable that there will be product shortages," Tretton said.

However, in comments made to EndSights, a SCEA representative said that the company is committed to ensuring that shortages do not occur."

$200 price point, maybe. But they can't go any slimmer then what the current box is. Their only choice is to have a "Wii HD" which could only force upscale old games, and have native 720p but still low end graphics for new games.

Sony's new slim box really is amazing though.
Gamers love playstation because it's the most mainstream console brand of all time. People simply react to playstation, with a $300 price point, Sony can only get better.

I think a $200 price point will help drive up demand for the Wii well enough. I think that price was the only barrier to a lot of people at this point for the system--not that it was ever prohibitively priced--but more that they sold so many of the damn things at $249 that they just exhausted the market at that price point.
