Consoles Vs PC

TheSixthAxis: How are you? Good? Good. Let's get started. I am a console gamer, always have been, probably always will be, and I love it. There are many people like myself, on many sites (not least this one), just like there are many people who love PC gaming, and those who enjoy both. Why wouldn't you? It's your own choice, and I respect and support you in your choices and opinions, after all you are more than entitled to them.

Now, far be it from me to be a console fanboy, but don't you feel that some PC gamers are elitist? I'm talking about their arguments of having FPSs controlled by mouse being more suitable than an analogue nubbin and that RPGs are better with point and click control. Although I do agree that RTSs and point-and-click games are better on PC, and look sensitivity generally suffers on consoles. I get sick of hearing it, the pros of PC versus Console.

Most of it is just petty and nonsensical anyways, and I probably shouldn't listen to it myself, but it is very, very annoying.

How much would it cost for a PS3 quality, PC Gaming rig?
I'm not being sarcastic, I really wanna know. There is too many supporters of PC gaming for it not to have it merits. But other than Micrsoft Golf back in 96', I've personally haven't played many PC games. I've been console gaming since 89', so I'm all for consoles. I was just wondering how much a quality, PC gaming rig is.

About three PS3s for a decent self made tower. That's not even including the monitor/hdtv.

PC gaming can be expensive but not as expensive if you know how to do certain things yourself. Like how to upgrade your Videocard, Ram, processor and other items on your PC. But to look at a PC, even a gaming PC as solely a gaming device is not correct. There is way more functionality when it comes to what a PC can do as oppose to a console. Say you want to make a game, take your PC and buy a program and learn how to make one, don't want to buy movies? torrents, baby. Need to write a report for school, work or an angry letter to that ex-girlfriend (stupid whore) there's program for that as well.

I like both but I mainly Console game, but I think PC's for gaming will always have a purpose for the truly geeky.

I've been looking around and I'd say <$500 will get you a decent gaming rig if you build it yourself and already have the OS for it.

specs I've looked into at newegg:
$80 Motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H -
$105 CPU - AMD Phenom II X2 550 -
$35 Ram - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 -
$60 Video Card - SAPPHIRE 100254HDMI Radeon HD 4650 -
----------------------------- --------
$280 total

The Chip/Motherboard combo means I can get a quad core for the price of a Duo by simply unlocking the other two cores. Likely I'd double the amount of ram but 2GBs is a good beginning. And since I've already got a Case, HDD, DVD Burner that I can use, my cost is cut by about $100-$150. With these specs I should be able to breeze through Mass Effect and most other PC games.

I'd rather debate PC and Console rather than the typical PS3/360 garbage.

However anymore its starting to show they are all gonna end up being the same in the future with the features each has and the only real difference is the games

More people would game on their pc's if they came w/ an adequate power supply. Vid cards right now are cheap and very powerful. If all u had to do was pop in a vid card instead of replacing the power supply on hp's, dell's, etc...most people would game on there pc. u hav all the tools right there...a better processor, more ram, better graphics. But people don't want to deal w/ buying or paying someone to install a better power supply. Also pc's do way more than just game. they are computers so u can do all the computer stuff u usually do. Consoles are trying to become more and more like pc's, but pc's are always more powerful.

Maybe PC gamers come off as elitist because we're constantly bombarded with crap like:

"PC gaming is dead"
"PC gaming is a rich man's hobby"
"PC has no games"
"No one cares about PC"
"Consoles are more powerful than PC"

Besides those gross misconceptions everyone seems to believe, what kind of article tries to tell us all to get along while calling PC gamers out as the guilty party? Seems to me the equivalent of spitting on people at a peace rally.
