USA Today interview with Dan Houser

Earlier this week GTA hood posted about USA Today's preview of Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony. Now the widest circulating newspaper in the U.S. has published online their interview with Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser. Dan, who bears the title Vice President of Creative at Rockstar, plays a critical role in shaping the stories and dialogue of the GTA games.

First of all we learn that the game starts about half of the way through Grand Theft Auto IV and part of the way through Lost and Damned and finishes near the end of GTA IV. (Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony, Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned, Xbox 360)

Nice Interview
I have never really been a fan of the GTA series once it moved from a top down view to the current 3d incarnations. That being said, I do give the game Kudos for what it does and what it attempts to do. The violence in the GTA series is not my cup of tea( actually it offends me on some basic level), I have always had a problem just attacking random civilians and committing senseless violence. On the other hand, violence in games such as Halo, TF2, COD do not bother me at all; probably due to the presence of a defined antagonist (except tf2). I have to Give GTA credit for not shying away from the frailties and depravities that mark elements of human civilization. The people at Rockstar are geniuses, just not the kind of genius I personally enjoy.
