Game Guys Review: "Demon's Souls" for the PlayStation 3

Imagine if you had every player in the world helping you when you're stuck on a hard level of a game? That's the idea behind Demon's Souls, an exclusive role playing game for the PlayStation 3.

Update:

Video version of the video game review now available for viewing on news10.net.

The story is too old to be commented.

this game is getting to 1st day buy status for me. I hope its great like VC and much harder. I love VC to bits but the problem was it was too easy.

I've commented to you before about the difficulty in Demon's Souls. I can assure you it is harder than Valkyria Chronicles. It's the kind of game where you don't even get frustrated anymore because dying is such an integral part of the experience. I must have died THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of times during my 113 hours with Demon's Souls. It's just such a regular occurrence it doesn't even really bother you. In fact, sometimes when you're trying to do something specific, dying on purpose can speed up the process. That concept is kind of hard to explain, but you'll know what I'm talking about after you've played the game.

The game doesn't strike me as overly difficult because I platinum'd it, and I don't platinum many games at all. But really thinking honestly on it, it's a very challenging game that requires patience, skill, and knowledge to complete (and luck, for some of the trophies). It just wasn't particularly frustrating, and for some reason I often affiliate frustrating with challenging. But that isn't the case with Demon's Souls. It's challenging, and somehow NOT frustrating. At least, for me. It's chellenging in the sense that if you get overly aggressive just for one second, or try to parry an attack, but time it wrong, or try to dodge, but not fast enough or in the wrong direction, or if you just think that you can swing your sword faster than the enemy and hit them before they connect on you... well, just one misplaced maneuver and you're going to be dead, there's no room for error. You have to take it slow and be on your guard at all times, and most importantly KNOW YOUR SURROUNDINGS, and KNOW YOUR ENEMY.

I don't really know how else to describe the games in terms of its challenge and all, and I'm sorry if my write-ups confuse you. But I'm absolutely 100% confident that you will love Demon's Souls. You'll just have to take my word on that.

It was always on my radar because people said it was hard and a great game. The harder the better the satisifaction i get when i clock it with no cheats/guide.

I'm sorry I love my PS3 but please the handhelds run JRPG's

DonCorneo2521d ago

there are no mature themes, like demon's soul, just kiddie, colorful, easy, casual rpgs

not saying those PG-13 rpgs aren't good. they are fun, sure. but i miss a dark, serious story, deep combat, hardcore difficulty and nasty looking enemies

All those who love the dungeon crawling genre, may find in this From Software's game a large number of interesting elements and carefully developed details, while those who prefer a more narrative structure and a more rich gameplay, should perhaps approach the game only after careful considerations. Waiting a more understandable english version, we can only hope that the existing defects can be fixed.

Who the fuk are spazio games. ROFL.

Why not wait for the english version you twits, and how the hell does metawank include it,lol.
