Gametrailers.com pits Virtua Fighter 5 against Dead or Alive 4
Comparing a just about launch game to a game that came out a year later.
comparing two launch games?
Virtua Fighter came out after the Xbox 360 birthday.
and DOA4 still looks better..ringouts? time for some new ideas sega
i disagree. i don`t think DOA4 looks better. but. i completly agree w/ the ringouts. they need to come up w/ some new ideas.
ps. DOA4 wins out on everything other than Graphics and Fighting.
I rather DOA fighting style.
Oh you all thought that was my opinion. I have no f*cking clue...never played either of them. I was just stating the results of the poll at the time i saw it
Why do we still care??? Tekken's the best fighting game ever created. If Power Stone were still around, we wouldn't be having this discussion!
Power Stone is on my top 5 "next gen" wishlist. online PowerStone w/ destructable enviroments(think Strangehold, more cartoonish). man..oh...man.
u serious? tekken? :-/ maybe back in 95 and 97.
I didn't know you still played tekken 2, cause tekken 5 is already out which is one of the best and tekken 6 is coming out soon. But you must be one of those hardcore gamers.
I was playing Tekken religiously during its heyday back when ppl crowded around Tekken 3 in the arcades to watch and challenge eachother. Those were the days...
I agree with the Powerstone on the Most Wanted list. Also a reincarnation of Rival Schools would be cool. I remember that being the first 3-d fighter where stepping in and out of the screen seemed really useful and strategic.
Tekken!!!... to tell u the turth....I stop caring about VF after VF3...
Didn't know either franchise really had that many supporters left.
tekken 3 was the best, tekken 4 was lame and tekken 5 was equally as boreing, fighting games need some new ideas, i love kicking people through windows etc in DOA DOA is still fun but doesnt take itself as serious as tekken thank god
DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 is the best fighting game out Tekken is old and outdated, and both DOA4 & VF5 are lame They need to take a few notes out of the DBZ book, 2D fighting is so 1990
i completely love dbz, but to be honest as a fighting game the level of skill and variation in the fighting isnt very good, sure tenkaichi 2 had some new combos but all combos are identical for each character. dont even get me started on the wii version.
i agree, DBZ is great! i am also so excited about it being an MMORPG =D
I'm hoping that on the new DBZ Tenkaichi game we'll be able to have online games of like 4 Vs 4 all fightin at once. DBZ has the most potential which is why i like it more. No matter how you look at it Tekken, DOA, MK, VF they are all 2D fighters that haven't changed one bit since the original Street Fighter days par the circling of the ring but that is still very limited and still 2D or 2 1/2D. Tenkaichi is the only true 3D fighter Combo's do take a lot to master in the DBZ games, but they really pay off if you can master them, mixing in moves like teleportation, stompin them into the ground, transformations, on top of the massive combo's that can be displayed. 200 hits is the biggest combo i've seen used on DBZ, it is just that fast paced
I believe VF5 beats DOA in almost every aspect if even by a small margin. But, DOA Hands VF it's A$$ in Level Design and that little fact alone makes DOA that much more fun to play then VF. IMO.
DBZ: Budokai 3 is better, The Tenkaichi series kind've made it lame.
I have DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 and I really enjoy it. I really like the free roam aspect. It definitely made things more interesting, if only the combo's were different for each character. That's really the only gripe I had, other then than I thought the game was great. I never played DBZ: Budokai Tenkaichi (1) though so I can't comment on it. Yet, compared to Budokai 3 and 2 (not to say they were bad) but I really thought the change in style was needed.
Or make a new Tobal.
Agree, Tobal 2 was excellent. The dungeon mode rocked and the graphics had the highest resolution I'd ever seen at the time.
is the greatest with tekken not to far behind
I want to see a next gen remake or sequel to that as well. I loved the combo's (Ellis, Veil, that gun guy and that Michael Jackson guy).
BAT 2 was awesome. It was like a 3D flashy street fighter done right. Ranged projectile attacks. Small combos could be chain into special attacks. And I actually like Ring outs, it keeps you on your toes and gives you the chance of a desparation comeback if you were way behind.
Admittedly DO4 has been out ages, but so has vf5 in the arcades (ps3 is exactly the same) and vf5 blows doa away. Way more advanced texture bump mapping and lighting and just way better game play mechanics. Doa games do have flashy ring interaction and more of a Tecmo 'cartoony' look, but they are also cheap and not as intuitive as VF games. You all know those 'hammer the reversal button' noobs in doa games. Anyhoo my vote goes VF over all 3d fighters...easy. I am a hardcore fight fan btw, I love 2d aswell. (which btw are still the best fighters around)
2 features that give DOA the win from the start.
and enjoy more 'realistic' fighting than VF5 will win hands down. I'm just comparing the fight mechanics. With VF4, they went back to their roots and VF5 is a major visual upgrade from VF4. The DOA series has been about over-the-top fighting with major reversals. Couple that with large interactive backgrounds and you have a completely different fighter than the VF series. Admire the comparison ... but two totally different fighting games. Also , I agree with the other comments on this site. They really need to remove/modify the ring-out concept. Although it does add another dimension to your fighting gameplan ... it has been used and reused for 5 iterations.
But to put it plain and simple Don't play DOA4 before VF5 or Tekken. It will feel like a step down action wise trust me.The Impact on hits in DOA sh1ts on the other 2 games hard. I play all of these games and every year VF become more and more Tekken-ish. Characters use to seem like they put effort into thier attacks now when i look at VF sarah kicks effortlessly and unrealistically and moves like Hwaorang if this is supposed to be a non over the top game. the only reason VF is so called technical is because the Gravity is less permitting the than the other 2 games so juggle have a more strict timing.Never to take anything away but what that to mean about Tekken? The juggles in Tekken take timing and know how also. I love all 3 games but I enjoy DOA more than the VF and Tekken series just cause of the hits alone (But the Moment a new Fighter's Megamix comes out Good bye DOA.). Last but not least Ring outs is played out.Sega Fuk up the moment they made the backgrounds flat again in VF4. BTW DOA is 1 1/2 years Old and still Hold it own against a So called visual behemoth. This my honest opinion people in no way and i trying to create flame or convert fanboys.
