Grand Turismo HD: Real Life Comparison
Even with the screens divided, it's hard to tell what's in-game and what's reality in some of the shots. I didn't realize they weren't applying motion blur to the tire models though until I saw these screens. Maybe they're still perfecting that aspect?
tell the difference, if it did not have the real and ps3 written over it, i could never have been able to tell, and this is even a tech demo
Yup pretty impressive I would have to say. I will definately be getting GT5 as I am a huge GT fan.
that guy that mentioned that forza2 was better come and post a comment in this thread - oh man PLS!!! i want 2 see that happen
I also think graphics look amazing, but one thing dissapoints me. There is no car damage :(. May be they will change their mind and put car damage in?
This version of GranTurismo might actually be the first-ever racing game to blur the difference in graphical excellence between reality and fiction - Impressive details I must say... It has set the benchmark on computer generated realism for automobiles!!! Hope when it comes-out, and for Sony having settled their dispute w/ the company that produces force-feedback on the sixaxis that it will return in time for this game. Now all Sony has to do is wave their magic, and bring ( damage-mode - possibly soon, please! ) for it to be perfect... I saw the game-trailer and this Nissan JGTC on one of this websites' pages and it is beautiful to see.
Absolutely incredible. It looks just like real life, and its still a demo. These arent screenshots of some future product either, this exists now. I would love to see a real life comparison to Forza 2 lmao. Power of Green was saying Forza 2 looks more realistic than real life haha
Don't be such a fanboy/graphics boy. I'm a HUGE GT fan and played the ever living crap out of the series, but it has gone stale. Other than graphics, the series hasn't really advanced since GT1. If all you care about is graphics, then don't even bother commenting. It's too early to judge Forza 2, but with all the gameplay elements, car damage, satellite-realistic tracks, in-depth painting tool, physics, etc., how can you even put it down? As a racing game, it's a serious innovation for the genre, and as a racing fan you should be thrilled that the genre is taking a step forward. Hopefully GT can take some notes. If you're still worried about graphics, Turn 10 has stated they worry about gameplay and other things before the final graphics are applied, and nobody's seen the final build: No demo, not gold yet.
i can't understand why people say there wont be any car damage, any GT fans knows there will be because those were the intention of polyphony for GTHD as a downloadable pack. Even Usergenerated content was discussed back when GTHD was meant to be a game.
polyphony might include damage. Up to now, there have been 2 problems: console power and time. Polyphony stated that they would start including damage once a console was capable of replicating it realistically enough. As true GT fans know, when polyphony set out to achieve something, they aim to create it as real as possible. Therefore, they would want each of the hundreds of cars to be damaged in their own individual and realistic way. That takes alot of time. The ps3 is surely capable of polyphonys aims
I believe the main problem now is the manufactures. Allot of them don't want their cars to be damaged in the game. That's on of the main points in the licence agreement. I'm sure a bunch of them wont mind, but then you'll have a game that only allows car damaged with only certain cars and not with others.
This issue of car damage is allot more complicated then people actually think for polyphony. They have plenty of power with Cell but now it's all down to the manufactures really.
for this game is worth getting a 60+ fullHD 1080p set and the steering wheel.
...GT;HD is just a tech demo people and look what they've accomplished !!! Being just a HD version of the PS2's GT4 engine, this game has gone beyond every other racing game incarnation out there. I think Deep is right, we should just stop calling it a demo anymore.
Just wait for GT5, for visuals that will be totally unbelievable and true car-damage modelling !!!
There is no AI. One car on track. No damage. Bad sound.
How can a car be in two places at once? This proves my theory!! Look at the car in one picture, and then the one in the other picture, its the same car!! OMG whats going on??
Realistic. Man can't wait to get my hands on it.
oh god, these screen are incredibel,& they're just screen shots that means the game in motion is way better, i cant wait...plz release it soon...i cant wait plz
LOL @ only 1 car on the track
It's a sim. Nothing to "lol" about, really.
I'm LOLing because all this time, i thought these GT:HD superb graphics i was/still am completely impressed with had more than 1 car racing each other.. i didn't know it was just 1 car on the road at all times... makes perfect sense why this game looks better than great now.
Hm. I know what you're saying. Some people probably lose interest in this game because it's a sim.
If I want to play a great sim, I'll play GT. If I want a great racing game, it's gotta be PGR.
I SUPPOSE BECAUSE I'M USED TO RIDGE RACER ARCADE STYLE PLAYING!
is how obvious which one is just a game.
The tile in the show room is so obviously fake. ;)
ahaha...plz xbot don't compare...
The only thing that gives away the real from the fake a environmental effects like tyre smoke and stuff. The GT car is slightly brighter in colour. If it had a bit of a smoke haze over the screen you wouldn't know which was which. GT just looks a tiny bit to "clean" to be real. Still, there a long way to go, remember how good that heat haze looked in GT4? This game will be as close as anything to photorealistic.
I still dont think there will be damage and the reason I think it wont be there is the reason I think it has always been missing. Its simply time. GT has more cars than any other game and they all take alot of time to produce. Adding damage will increase the developement time on every car by a lot. Thats ok if your game only has 20 cars or even 50. When your game has 500 or 700 cars even a extra day per car would set bac the release date a long way.
Typically not a fan of racing games/sims, but my interest is there now. =)
Is this to be implemented into the GTHD concept?
That would be sweet.
i have an xbox 360 but now i might me rolling towards getting a ps3 in the future. The crazzy thing is that i saw an interview with the developer of gt and he was saying it takes more time to render just the car in hd than it does to make a car from start to finish which includes car develpment and stuctural assembly. NOW I SEE WHY THE GAMES RELEASE DATE WAS HELD BACK!!!!WOW f***in this comes out when im about to get forza 2.
well u have to figure sony to make gt inslanely good i guess. Thats one of there pride and joys. If its as good as it looks i dont see getting around obtaining a ps3. Mabye its potential and folding calculations could be the eye opener.
Heh. My buddy who has a 360 just bought a PS3 two days ago. Now he's obsessed.
Having both consoles is good, you don't miss out on exclusives/superior versions.
Unfortunately I don't have the money for that, but I'm happy with the PS3. I'll still be playing the 360 games I'm looking forward too.
Anyway, relating to the topic, I'm pretty impressed with this game's graphics myself. And to top it off, the realism of driving is very appealing too.
i sweat the first pic had me confused as to which was which. i thought real was GTHD and GTHD was real... with the smaller ones, you can see where the image was compressed and there are slight jaggies... but yeah, looking real
has better graphixs
I'd heavily disagree, although I think PGR4 will be maybe the best arcade racer when it is released.
I can always tell the difference. It really isn't that hard.
I mean the console came out an entire year later. In the terms of technology, that's a hell of a long time.
If I were Sony. I'd frankly be embarrassed if any game came out on the Xbox 360 that looked or performed better than any game on the PS3 in any way shape or form.
There are games on 360 that look better than their PS3 counterparts though.
The PS3 may be capable of better graphics though, if that's what you're saying. It just depends on the developers and the system it is ported to/from.
Sony has more experience when it comes to putting electronics together. They've got one generation of console experience more than Microsoft. The PS3 storage system can handle more data stored on a disc so textures do not need to be compressed.
Even if a game was a port of an Xbox 360 game or the game was developed in concert for all consoles, I would expect the PS3 version to have far superior graphics to the Xbox 360.
Before anyone says anything about me being a fan boy for one team or the other, I own a 360. I see some games for the PS3 and I drool (Motorstorm), but I wait for something similar to come out for my 360.
Agreed the GTHD lacks true to life vibrance and is too dull in light. If the pics #16 posted were in the same lighting they would be a better comparison.
do you want raytracing in realtime 1080p ? ..
No dude...the world is not as vibrant as you think it is...the world has subtle lighting etc. Was listening to 1up podcast...who played Forza 2...and they said it's not about graphics, it's about how it plays...the physics are amazing. They say its hard to say it looks better than pgr3.
Graphics look good, what about the gameplay?
BTW, have'nt we been through this like 6 months ago?
I thought the game was released some time ago, guess not.
GT always had a greAT gameplay....
by the way did you play forza2 to talk about gameplay?no....so
why you want to see gameplay on a tech demo?
Ok first off I do want to say, damn I couldn't tell the difference between the two half the time, I actually thought real life was the PS3 at first. I want to also agree with Bill Gates on the fact that most car companies won't allow damage. Turn10 has stated that they have to get approval to do it. Also I think it's a reason why their car selection while still huge is smaller than GT. Now for a few sidenotes. First off, yes these look amazing. But bear in mind this is an updated GT4 using PS3 power and shinier graphics. Their is no damage, one car, and absolutely no HDR, AA, AF or anything like that. So while this looks amazing now when the actual game (GT5) releases it won't be AS detailed. Because that power has to go to HDR, AA, AF, physics, maybe damage, and like 7 other cars on the track. Plus updated trees, pits, asphalt, etc everything in the environment. The demo puts all the processing into really just the car, environments look nice but much worse than they will when GT5 comes. Anyways the point is don't get too excited YET, it might end up looking this good when it releases but it will be HARD. Same scenario and excuse everyone used with GOW "Their's only like 4 guys on screen at once" while that may be the case, it's entirely true. You take out stuff and everything else improves around it, it's simple math. You add more, and everything in quality goes down. But no matter how good it looks I'll but it, but I'd trade those graphics for damage because damage is the ultimate realism. You drive like a maniac and hit walls in GT you keep going, you do it in Forza you lose. Oh well this will be an awesome game anyways.
I'm going to admit that I picked the wrong one. I thought the ps3 shot was the real shot and vice versa. No questioning GT dominance over the years. But you have to give credit where credit is due. Forza beat GT in every way according to top magazines. And that is pretty damn impressive considering Forza beat the king its first try. Forza 2 will be the new king. GT5 will have to bring its A game to try to recapture the crown.
What I find interesting is that the picture of the real that are being compared to the PS3 are not 1080P and yet look more realistic(since they are realistic)... The point I am trying to make is that the realism that developers are achiving in this game may have nothing to do with 1080P or FPS. a non-HD tv can also display realistic images.
By the way great job on the developers part on moving on step closer to realism.
well the real world is not in anything p...it's almost "infinite p"...but downscaled when an image is taken. So if you want that in a game...you'd have to render it at 5080p and then downscale to 1080p. :)
This game looks earth movingly great. This will be to the PS3 what GT3 was for the PS2. I can't wait to get this game, better physics, graphic and more life like backgrounds. I still got a hard on lol! No that was from my girlfriend walkin by in her underware. Gotta go.
The graphix is insane!
yes...the graphics look awesome...again i want to put my hands on the new gran turismo...
Almost as impressive as PGR4s recent screenshots.
You must be kidding buddy, PGR4 looks good but not as real as GT. It's not in the same league, same goes for Forza 2.
soz but forza just doesnt compare
sweet but the game is still dry. I rather play motorstorm.
@ darth Vader
Am having trouble tryin to figure out if your being sarcastic or not. Well you must be jokin anyway because there is no way you could say PGR4 looks better, hell Forza2 falls short (Just like it did last gen) You need to go get your eyeballs scraped because your bias is startin to cloud your vision. lol!
imagine GT5!! next year... a simulator of REAL driving.. its not Fun its REAL driving guys.. Im sure it will be the BEST looking driving ONLINE SIMULATOR Game..
dont compare it to any other Driving games except REAL LIFE .. :P
Blurring isn't perfected yet in gaming, so you can tell there, I can see certain artifacting in the gthd shots, and certain windshield reflections.
watch how good this Forza2 car looks.. GT has nothing on forza.
i think i know y you have just one bubble, thanks for the good laugh though
...change the title. the game is called Gran Turismo not Grand Turismo
too late lol
If anyone needs further proof of why GT owns FM so hard up the butt that its eyes pop out these screens provide the final nail in the coffin
Intersting, I just gave a quiz of these screens to unbiased people and the results were fifty fifty in other word they could not tell the difference between the two, minus the grass on the third screen no one could conclusivly choose which was real and which was GT.
