A rumour that actually has a good piece of info behind it!

Maddens Raiders5364d ago

I'm officially dubbing this week, "Sony Week".

bnaked5364d ago

Sony's D-day 18th august! GT5 is coming hell yeah! hopefully new trailer with gameplay! holy f*cking sh!t YES!

OnlyOnN4G5364d ago

I take GT Planet's word over any other sites and they said to lookout for details at GamesCom. So not long to go now!

Montrealien5364d ago (Edited 5364d ago )

I like the fact that this solid info comes from some blog who listened to a podcast. I mean, keep this at 1up, at the very least this is a duplicate no? who aproves this crap? I mean the guys basicly created a blog to post this, sad sad sad....who ever approved this fails at approving, at the most this "blog" equals a comment that should be in the post of the podcast. Now dont forget to dissagree and take some bubbles kids, logic hurts the brain, I know. Better to just shut up the voice of reason and embrace the smell of madness right?

edit: and if they do announce it, which from listening the listen up also I do believe they will, its great news. People who are stuck with just one console will each have great console racing sims for this holiday seaso. And for the true console racing fans, this would just be the cherry on top of an already great racing game line up for the holidauy season. we all win! :D

sharpened sense5364d ago

guys amazon.com has been saying its coming out on december 29th for the past week

kharma455364d ago

Can anyone tell me what time in the podcast this is mentioned at?

I've tried listening to the excerpts but they aren't working for me.

bpac1234567895364d ago

Like I said before the only Sony game that could possibly do halo numbers is gt5. If Sony markets this right they could come out on top this holiday season( they also need a price cut). secretly gt5 is my most anticipated game ever on the ps3 (next to mgs4). If i only had $60 and I saw god3, uncharted 2, modern warfare 2, and gt5 sitting in the store I would pick up gt5, but shhhhhh don't tell no one.

Thanks for all the great comments guys!!!

xTruthx5364d ago

Any 1 know a good place to reserve this game instead of gamestop or EB games(which are the same company), dont want to support them.

kharma455364d ago

Thank-you very much :D

Bubbles for you =]

cranium5364d ago

They should release it on the same day as Forza just to be d!cks.

whoelse5364d ago

I hope want this to be true.

But I don't want to be disappointed. I'm just going to wait and see what happens.

whothedog5364d ago (Edited 5364d ago )

A PS3 (slim) bundled with GT5 might be cool?

Off topic I hope they announce something major (at Gamescon) with Home, like a major update with the features everyone's been wanting. Fix the chess glitch at least! No one plays chess anymore, which is lame.

randomwiz5363d ago

It doesn't have to be a ps3 slim, it could be any ps3 bundled or not with GT5.

You know this game is going to sell both hardware and software

Why are all you idiots trying to make this article fail? it has some solid information and I haven't seen it on the front page so please let this pass.

N4PS3G is a f@g & a half who the hell cares if he didn't quote it properly it has good info.

talltony5364d ago

GT5 is coming this year with the slim plus a price drop. We all know sony cant ever keep any secrets so it is all pretty much guarenteed at this point.

terrandragon5364d ago

But Saaking isn't a fanboy....what are you driving at?

Montrealien5364d ago

the "idiots" are trying to make it fail because it should, at the most your "info" should be commented on in the comments section of the podcast itself. It is not some sort of smocking barrel, people that create blogs like this and think it is legit are f**king morons,

PirateThom5364d ago

I wonder if this is the same thing they were hinting at in the Beyond podcast.

Unbiased15364d ago

I hate 1UP.They complained how they knew everything that was going to be shown at sonys e3 press conference, so that is why they were not excited. While in mean time they go around trying to find any info, spoiler that ruins these events for them and us.
I don't want to know what is going to be show, i want to be surprised.
Something needs to change.

Do I even have to detail the irony here, or is it slapping you in the face at this point?

PlayStation 3: chasing the 1080p dream, part three - Gran Turismo 5 and the indie explosion

From Digital Foundry: "Welcome to the third part in the biggest DF Retro episode we've ever produced - a year-by-year look at how 1080p gaming fared on the PlayStation 3. Launched in 2007 touting its then-exclusive HDMI digital interface, Sony layered full HD gaming on top of its Cell processor and RSX 'Reality Synthesizer' as key selling points for its third generation console. Of course, we all know how that turned out - both Sony and Microsoft machines routinely ran the most advanced titles at sub-720p resolutions, often with questionable performance, so what happened to the 1080p dream?

In the first two parts of John Linneman's investigation, we've covered off the first four years of the Triple's lifecycle and moving into 2010, the overall fortunes of the PlayStation 3 continued to improve. The platform holder released - what was then - the most advanced motion controller in the console space, backed up by experiments with stereoscopic 3D, which turned out to be a short-lived but still formidable pairing. Combined with a strong E3 showing, PS3 was looking good.

However, it's fair to say that it was a fallow year for 1080p gaming on the system, with only Scott Pilgrim Saves The World's razor-sharp pixel art upscaling, Castle Crashers and Soldner X2's 3D/FMV stylings accommodating full HD output - alongside a wonderful Monkey Island remaster."

Just remember ladies and gentlemen, Sony never said all games would be 1080p. Only that the system would support games up to 1080p in a survey before the system was released.
https://spong.com/article/9...
And as we saw, some games did support it, some games tried their best to support it and some games didn't or never reached it.

Is a higher resolution great to have if you can do it? Sure. Is it necessary for a fun game? No

But what I find interesting is Eurogamer. Are they really talking about HD and PS3 in their article or are they really pushing their 4.50 Euros 4K video download subscription? Seems one is being used to sell the other. Just look at the bottom of the article.

Michiel1989638d ago

thats what every company tries to do, push for people to buy their products. Are you really gonna blame them for that?

ApocalypseShadow638d ago

Not all articles are about selling. They're about informing or entertaining.

Maybe I'm supposed to watch the video instead of reading. But I shouldn't have to click. But the article lazily tells us some games did hit 1080p and some didn't. I didn't learn anything new as I own the console. Then, they push a Patreon subscription.

Are you saying every opinion, preview, review and rant article requires a push to buy something now? Tell me which sites are prone to do so so that I can avoid them in the future.

Michiel1989638d ago

not everyone played during the ps3 era. I started during snes era but loved seeing articles/videos about how gaming evolved before that.

i dont think this article is trying to push you to get that patreon sub, it doesnt for me at least. I dont think theres anything wrong putting an ad at the bottom of the article. all the regular DF videos are free already.

SonyStyled638d ago

Wipeout HD on PS3, a remake of the PS1 game was 1080p 60fps. And that released in 2007-08

Christopher638d ago

This really feels like a filler article. I don't feel like I learned anything notable or substantial from this. I feel they could have reduced the unnecessary intro and over-explanation of things and put the whole series in one article for a more substantial and possibly informative piece rather than piece-mealing it out as they have.

dumahim638d ago

It's more about the video. DF Retro videos are for Patreon members first, and I think the whole thing was one big video. For the youtube channel, it gets chopped up and released weekly.

ApocalypseShadow638d ago

Chris is actually right on this one. Something known already was just kind of washed over in the article. Unless you're supposed to get more in the video. If more is in the video, then more could have been said in the article.

Only thing I learned new was that they are selling a subscription. My point though is that you gain more viewers by having better articles and content.

MAG was one of the most ambitious shooters ever and deserves a PS5 sequel

Zipper Interactive were once one of Sony's most important studios and became a household name due to their work on the SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs series during the PlayStation 2's heyday. Their most ambitious title was MAG. Could it make a comeback?

Best game ever. I had put over 1700hrs into that game before it deteriorated too far with cheaters getting out of the map and sadly decided it was time to let it die (Zipper had already been closed down by that time).

_SilverHawk_1548d ago

Amazing game. Hopefully sony makes a sequel

XisThatKid1547d ago

This is the game in modern gaming that even got me into shooters i spent literally days with this game Raven All the way. War against the the mighty D ride oh so edgy S.V.E.R.

NecrumOddBoy1548d ago

Original Battle Royale. No microtransactions. Definitely ahead of time.

XBox4eva691547d ago

It's almost as far from battle royale as you can get. o_O

frostypants1547d ago

It didn't have a BR mode.

Da12RespectA1547d ago

That wasn't a battle royale game at all.

rdgneoz31547d ago

3 teams of 32 fighting it out would be considered Battle Royaleish. If you're gonna saying teams are OK when you start doing teams of 2 or 3 or 4, then 32v32v32 should work. And on besides that, it had 128 v 128 which was insanely fun.

Muzikguy1548d ago (Edited 1548d ago )

I personally hadn't played much of it. I did spend a lot of time in PlanetSide 2 though (somewhat like MAG). Games like these tend to get overrun by cheaters and then ruined too often.

Teflon021548d ago

MAG didn't have that issue as far as I remember. I use to love the 256 matches. That game had an amazing community. Everyone actually communicated and played together. No one B****ed at the team. Everyone understood there was so much going on that if things are going wrong. Everyone had to think of new strategies.
Fav moment was when all 3 other squads 32 took their objectives but we were struggling with ours and had one more to blow up. The other leaders were communicating asking if the 2 nearest squads should send ppl. Our leader was like Naw I got a idea. So he told us all to die and set ourselves at the nearest hills prone without being seen. So we all did and surrounded the areas.
He said everyone on his count throw your grenades. Then snipers go all out and everyone else run in. They won't be able to get everyone and if needed the snipers go in about 10 seconds after.

Everyone did that and I got to the objective and set it off. 9 of us survived and got it. felt amazing to say I got the objective, cover me in that moment. Wish it was PS4 so I could have saved that moment
It was literally the coolest moment I had in a online shooter, closest since was BF4.

Muzikguy1548d ago

@Teflon

That does indeed sound like an awesome moment. One that makes games like these memorable for sure. It does seem like MAG had a lot more cooperation than most any online shooter

Teflon021547d ago

It did because you absolutely can't get no where in it without teamwork. It also didn't have an extremely big base of players. Everyone who played really wanted to play. I really hope they bring it back and do the same thing to only have serious players get into the big matches again

UltraNova1548d ago

Wow, what a run! This game looks better than PUBG!

Muzikguy1547d ago

Watching that video you wouldn't think the game was on PS3.

Spenok1548d ago

I adored this game too. Some of my best FPS online memories on it. So freaking good.

I'd love to see another game like this come out at some point. And NOT like Planetside... M.A.G. was something special.

yellowgerbil1548d ago

Yeah problem is if it existed now adays, it would likely be riddled with xp boosts and dance moves and all that other pay garbage...
MAG and Warhawk are the only 2 online games I ever got into, and both need a PROPER sequel on PS5.
Remember the first time I got 100 kills in a match, was in a turret with a repair kit and just mowed down wave after wave on Valors map.

I had so much fun with this game

TGGJustin1548d ago

This is a game that was ahead of its time. Had it came out on PS4 it would've done much better. I put hundreds of hours into this despite the problems it had on PS3.

UnholyLight1548d ago

Really interesting as an Xbox owner at the time. This game had captured my interest as a kid but I never got a chance to play it. Being on PS4 and soon possibly PS5, I would love to see this franchise brought back to life. I imagine with the power of next gen it would be really quite fun.

From what I hear and what I remember, this game was FAR ahead of it's time. A real shame it never truly took off from my understanding.

grifter0241548d ago

I'm an xbox boy since mech warrior but got a ps3 slim for mag. If you liked halo or cod you'd have had a blast in mag. Was one of the first games you could actually do something other than shooting and still make a difference in game.

spicelicka1547d ago

PS4 needs something like it. In the multiplayer space it's far behind the Xbox, there are no quality multiplayer games on it that aren't on other consoles.

Dirtnapstor1548d ago

Yes, yes, and yes. Way ahead of it's time. Would love to see a PS5 variant of this game.

Modern Warfare Ground War mode has MAG vibes

Erina Rose, Sausage Roll writes, "Call of Duty: Modern War introduced a new, improved, Ground War game mode this weekend that reminds us of the old PlayStation 3 classic, MAG."

I never played mag, I did play this beta however, and if mag was like this beta then (fart noises) for mag.

1672d ago
TheGamez1001673d ago

Man do I miss mag and zipper.

TheSinsibleOne1673d ago

Seriously though. Nowadays this and next gen are practically begging for a new MAG.

zodiac9091673d ago

How did we go from having games like resistance 1, 2, warhawk with 30 vs 30 player battles, and M.A.G. with 128 vs 128 players, ON LAST GEN to now having 20 vs 20...such a step back.

JEECE1672d ago

Because Sony hadn't figured out how to market their exclusives yet. Plus at that time COD craze was at its peak. So "generic high school bro #7," who was the primary purchaser of FPSs at that time (or at least represented a crowd necessary to sustain a playerbase), if he even had a PS3, would have just seen a game like MAG as a "copycat of Black Ops, man."

Not to mention MAG was pretty terribly uninviting for new people after awhile, because it was more skill-based. This was great for veterans, but if you weren't willing to put in the time getting destroyed for awhile, you would never appreciate the game. The Battlefield: Bad Company and BF:3 games out during that gen were far more accessible to lower level players.

Vegamyster1672d ago

Battlefield 4 was at the start of the generation and had 64 players, to me it depends more on how the map/gameplay is utilized, i enjoyed the 20vs20 modes more in the MW Beta than the 64 player ground war mode.

1672d ago
moomoo3191672d ago

It feels absolutely nothing like MAG lol. Way more battlefield vibes

xX-oldboy-Xx1672d ago

And even those are very small vibes, it still feels like COD at the end of the day.
