Ghostbusters Patch Confirmed

Almost a month after it's exclusive PS3 launch in Europe, there is finally word from official sources that a patch is in the works for Ghostbusters: The Video Game.

The game has had it's fair share of problems during it's development, with multiple publishers picking it up over the years, with the last being Sony in Europe who set it as a time-exclusive for the PS3 until October.

However, Xbox fans may never know the issues that the PS3 gamers have had to endure this last month, freezes and lockups so bad that a gamer must power off their PS3 by the rear rocker switch. Glitched Trophies that have the "Plat Club" gamers tearing their hair out, and errors when players from Europe and Australia try to play with players from the US. Not to mention issues with gamesave data not loading or corrupting.

None of these issues are mention in reviews online and offline, yet to any Ghostbuster: The Video Game owner are very common place now. This is particularly frustrating to owners as despite these glitches, it has been a well received game, scoring quite highly. Most frustrating is the lack of any official word to these troubled gamers, thankfully I have now received responses to my calls and emails and am pleased to pass onto fellow GB:TVG owner's confirmation from Andy Barnes at Sony Computer Entertainment UK and Dan Irish, CEO of Threewave Software, the company behind the Multiplayer of GB: TVG.

According to their emails, while not a definite date, it does confirm the patch is in production and could see itself being downloaded and installed on PS3's by September, almost certainly before the Xbox 360 release. (Ghostbusters : The Video Game, PS3, Xbox 360)

Update PS3 Patch was released on 26th August 2009 and was version 1.03, currently Xbox 360 is still awaiting a patch.

Payday glitched for those who fully met it's requirements pre-patch, Xbox 360 is still awaiting a patch, other trophies/achievements appear glitchy for some. PC version suffers from installation and running issues. Further info: http://bit.ly/GBTVGPatch

Um, what?
"None of these issues are mention in reviews online and offline, yet to any Ghostbuster: The Video Game owner are very common place now."

I own Ghostbusters on my PS3 and I haven't the faintest idea what this article is talking about. Glitched trophies, freezes, lockups, game save issues. I've experienced none of these problems. Not one.

Is it really common place? If it hadn't been for this article I would have never known there were issues. Anyone else had any problems?

Wait a second. How did this forum post get approved in the first place?

Darkride66, if you've never experienced any of these issues or similiar, I would imagine you've not actually played the game for longer than 5 minutes or the multiplayer at all.

The source is the emails from Sony and Threewave who you can contact and confirm for yourself. In anycase this will be good news and a relief to Ghostbusters: The Video Game owners out there. Check various Ghostbuster games forums and you'll see plenty of people complaining about these issues.

Lol.

Look at darkride downplaying these ADDITIONAL confirmed problems of ghostbusters PS3.

It won't be long and he'll be back stating that the score on metacritic mentions nothing of these faults therefore they don't exist and the game is easily as good as the 360 version.

I gotta hand it to him.

In terms of PS3 damage control, he has earned his stripes.

Sad
Sad that the PS3 version was released with so many errors. Game was decent. I'm glad I got the 360 version instead. I would of been pulling my hair out just the same.

They should of kept the PS3 version in development a little longer instead of allowing these types of bugs.

I can't confirm personally, as I'm waiting for the UK Oct Xbox release, however others have reported the same two Achievements as the Trophies are also glitched and unobtainable.

Finally can actually get the platinum for this awesome game :)

It's about effing time! Multiplayer needed fixing as did glitched trophies and the freezing before this was even shipped. I was so close to trading this crap in but held back. I'm glad i did now.

They should also call up 2K and learn how to implement a texture patch.

**Edit**

At least now i can get the Platinum.

wow...they really didn't do anything right on the PS3 version of this game. It is really sad...

I agree.

Just imagine being a ps3 owner who forked out $400+ just because that platform purportedly is more powerful.

Ghostbusters ps3 is a reality wake up call.
Talk about buyer's remorse...

...and they claimed that the PS3 version was being developed first?!?!?
Kinda pathetic... what with another "mandatory install" to deal with.

Enough with the PS3 vs Xbox, that's not what this news is about.
Putting aside the texture and graphical differences or dissapointments for the extreme polygon counters out there. These bugs refer to gameplay issues, which according to various US players I am in contact with, dog the Xbox just as much as the PS3, so please enough with the PS3 vs Xbox debate, at least over this game and this news item, this article is about a patch for the Multiplayer and Trophies/Achievements, surely these comments should remain on topic?
