TotalPlaystation Review: Cross Edge

"I am going to preface this review by saying that I am a diehard fan of Japanese RPGs. I've played (and enjoyed) all of Gust's localized games (the Atelier and Ar Tonelico series, for example), in addition to more widely acclaimed gems such as Persona 4 and Final Fantasy XII. I grew up learning to read with Final Fantasy IV -- so you get the picture: I was raised an avid RPG gamer. Unfortunately, some games are just so poorly assembled that no amount of blind genre-love could possibly save them. Even more unfortunately, Cross Edge is one such game."

OK, what is up with critics and this game? It's gotten about a couple of positive reviews, and the rest just hate on it like it's the cool thing to do. The gamers who actually went out and spent their hard-earned cash to buy this game are LOVING it. There are a ton of fans of this game out there, and I don't understand why those of us who bought it are capable of enjoying it so much, while the critics who got the game for free can't seem to figure out how to play this game. They all complain about the same things, none of which seem legitimate to me. The game has a deep and satisfying battle system, and the story and characters are wonderful and hilarious. There. Game = success. It's really as simple as that. I can't figure out where these critics are coming from on this game.

I agree, I don't understand all the hostility towards it, well hostility in the form of bad reviews. I still find the game quite enjoyable and have almost all the DLC for it except for the paid stuff, which I planned to get at least in the last few weeks of August. Great game, I've certainly enjoyed it.
