Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles Will Make You Rethink Wii's Graphics

It's an on-rails shooter, hardly demanding on graphics, there is no user interaction only pointer interaction and basically the only non-scripted event is the zombies movement which is slow and yes it does look good but it would nothing close to that if it wasn't on rails

Extraction looks better/better graphics to me it also look scaier and although this Resident Evil is set in the dark(unlike some of RE5) it's still pretty bright.

Not sure, RE4 on the GCN looked very good, with a more efficient and powerful hardware who knows?

Not sure how character movement would drag down the visuals into a ps1 mess.

Isn't that what they said about The Conduit? That game looked alright, better than most wii games but not as good as Galaxy or Prime 3. This game does look good. Better than RE4 in my opinion. Man I miss me some zombies.

They make another game in the vein of RE 4 Wii edition, there's so much potential for a masterpiece like that for Wii.

Nothing against on-rails, but I feel that genre is saturated on Wii, and I think that sales of the titles like this one and Extraction will show devs to bark up another genre.

hey! another exclusive wii title set to come out in 2009 that looks pretty cool. Seriously You HD gamers can bash all you want but Wii is undeniably getting way more exclusives by the end of this year then ps3 or 360. Spyborgs, muramasa, dead space, RE UC2, plus prime trilogy and New SMB wii. Wii is doing just fine. In fact... all the hd gamers have now is the graphics argument. Kindof a shallow reason to miss out on top notch games I'd say.

"quantity" would only apply to the amount of games he mentioned, but just because its on the Wii doesn't mean the "Quality" is low.

Holding a candle against anything or not, Wii has its own share of exclusive quality games.
And just because the PS3/360 do it on a different level doesn't mean its suddenly a case of "Quality over quantity"...it just sounds retarded.

Those games he mentioned seem good so far. Going by your logic anything released in the last generations of gaming is "bad" holding no quality...

I think kingOVsticks was simply responding to Shnazzy's flamebaiting. After all Shnazzy brought up the quantity dispute with "Wii is undeniably getting way more exclusives by the end of this year then ps3 or 360".

That's great and all, but a lot of games that are Wii Exclusive are also crap. I mean "Super Baby Party Whatever" is an exclusive, but its also full of suck. The games he mentioned will probably be awesome, but I wouldn't bring up the 'we have more quantity' argument when referring to the Wii. The Wii has lots of great games and so do the PS3 and 360, lets leave it at that.

Some people just have a one tracked mind when it comes to the Wii and its capabilities. In my honest to god opinion The Conduit is far easier and more attractive to look at then Halo 2. People who say otherwise are wrong in my eyes. So you sir, or madame, are 100% wrong. Show me 1 game on the PS2 or the X-BOX that looks better than the Conduit. Also for those of you who love to bash the Wii so very much, look at Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and compare it to any other game on the market. Superior processing power isnt everything fellas, and ladies. Metroid Prime 3, in my opinion, has the best graphics, art style, and is the best looking game out there.

Also Darkside Chronicles is looking great, it's always nice to go back and remember the sweet past. I dunno if I could play the original anymore as Playstation games just look ugly to me now more than ever. However I would have really liked to see some kind of Resident Evil 4 engine and gameplay used as that would be the greatest way to do it. I just hope Capcom will do something, hopefully some Resident Evil 5 on the Wii would be nice.

Look, I'm as much a fan of Resident Evil as anyone, but we can't very well go back and rewrite history. Let's not seriously pretend like the pre-4 games are these flawless, untouchable masterpieces. With the farcical approach to camera-placement? The puzzles that weren't even so much puzzles as ridiculous scavenger hunts? The leaden tank controls? The 'horror' aspect of being given three bullets to kill five zombies with?

Remaking the games into Darkside Chronicles is hardly equivalent to turning the Earth into the Planet of the Apes.

And you play as Clair and Steve as your partner.

You play 2 different chapters in this game.
Code veronica is with Clair and Steve.
The other one is with Leon and Ada.

I believe your definition of the word 'story' is markedly different from my own. To illustrate, I do not consider the following a 'story' per se: A city is turned into zombies by some kind of evil pharmaceutical company; god knows why the FDA lets it stay in business since its medicine has the nasty side-effect of turning people into giant eyeballs and stuff. We eventually find out that this company is run by some sort of insane transvestite and his sister, who he keeps in his refrigerator.

That's not a plot, that's a really poorly done mad-lib.

It's difficult for me to get upset about that kind of thing, since even the writers couldn't be bothered to work out the labyrinthine scenario A/scenario B mess they created. Are we forgeting that Ada managed to die in all of the scenarios and *still* came back in number 4?

Zombieman is out of bubbles now!! He can't keep his tardtacular argument going any further on this topic. Now i can state that RE2 was an excellent game. The flow of the game was very good and it had alot of those wonderful "Oh my god oh my god oh mygod" moments as you ran from things trying to kill you. It was impressive in it's time. BUT! You can't actually tell me it had some sort of holy and untouchable storyline. In fact if i remember correctly much of the story was illustrated with CGI with next to no dialogue. There really wasn't much story unless you sat down and read every single one of those pieces of paper lying throughout the game. Then it pretty much could be boiled down to two words.. "umbrella BAAD!"

In due time... you should probably get a wii anyhow. Because then you could probably at some point play UC2 then compare the story to RE2 on N64 VC. Which I am sure if RE2 is ever brought to PSN then rightfully wii VC should see it too. It would be a wonderful tiein to the new game. Capcom would be dumb to pass that up.

those are are great games on the wii but no offence none of them are GOTY worthy there not going to win anything other than wii specific awards i mean ps3/360 owners have uncharted 2,AC2,MW2 to look forward on top of that this year we've had street fighter 4, resident evil 5,killzone 2,fight night round 3,yes most of these are multiplat but there better than anything the wii has released this year most people would take these games over anything the wii offerd this year i mean come on 2 rail shooters a rehash of 2 gamecube games and a wii one, and speaking of uncharted 2,and killzone2,after looking at those games and gears of war 2,SC conviction, its really hard to impressed by wii graphics no offence

Muramasa, Tat vs cap and New SMB Wii. I feel that GOTY is up to debate. Oh and strike RE5 off that list. That game was an embarrassment to the franchise and shows exactly how Graphics don't always equal innovation.

At least UC2 is trying something new. Even if it is with a 20 year old arcade concept.

I've played Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, and I must say, what a waste of money. The game sucked BIG time. It had good graphics for the Wii, but the Gameplay was HORRIBLE. All Resident Evil games MUST be 3rd Person to win, with CONTROLLABLE Characters, and actual cut-scenes, with a real story. This game will suck. Even though I bought Umbrella Chronicles on sale for $13 at Frys, it was still a waste.

alot of you are pretty dull, just because its a Guided First Person Shooter (smiles) you think its crap and you aint even played it! im really looking forward to this, it cant be worse than RE5.

This and Dead Space Extraction look awesome, i loved Dead Space on my 360 it really was wow a trillion times better than RE5.

Plus i really like these type of games, they suit the Wii perfectly.

I'm really looking forward to both Dead Space extraction and this game. I really love the co-op nature of these games. These are the type of games that I can get my wife to play with me. They don't require her to memorize a lot of button combinations or do too much, so she can just enjoy the experience.

this game looks great. i haven't played the original RE2, so it looks like this incarnation will be my 1st of RE2. i kind of wish it was RE4 style, however it looks great. i'm not sure which to get, DS or this. i also hope devs start using the wii full power, so people can stop saying the wii graphics are bad. IIRC the wii has about as much graphical power as the x-box.

Eh, I saw the gameplay trailer from Comic Con. It didn't make me re-think the graphics. However, I do envy the fact that the characters, environments, and zombies of this game are more akin to the Resident Evil franchise than what we saw in Resident Evil 5. If only they could make another Resident Evil on the HD consoles that actually is scary, I would be more excited.
