When An Activision Boss Jokes About Raising Game Prices...

Kotaku writes.... Activision CEO Bobby Kotick is taking his daily bruising from gamers, this time for telling someone he'd raise video game prices if he could. But there's a little more to the story.

Kotick made the comment during a conference call between Activision Blizzard executives and financial analysts yesterday to discuss the company's performance from April through June.

The story is too old to be commented.

Activision hav COMPLETELY lost my respect (again like it matters "im a nobody")

poindat3237d ago

Yeah, considering recent events, it is very hard to believe that he was joking.

Carl14123237d ago

Agreed, it didn't seem much like a joke, especially given the crap spouting out of that douche's mouth as of late.

Even if it was, he can still go to hell

SevWolf3237d ago

This guy still remains to be one of my most hated guys...I highly doubt he was joking..excuses excuses

xTruthx3237d ago

He doesnt look like a man who jokes about money

jessupj3237d ago

Sounds like damage control to me.

Maybe they've realised this pathetic behaviour is severely pissing off us gamers and in turn will affect Activision's sales and increase their piracy.

badz1493237d ago

he's the BIGGEST douchebag of the gaming industry this gen! he can bring his money jokes to hell!!

sunil3237d ago

ohh noo... we got you all wrong... u were just joking ... real sorry... dont worry i will get ur game - day 1 purchase explaining my comments .. the tone i said it was sarcastic

please mr koDICK ... dont act so innocent.. you have already raised the prices of mw2 and have peripherals which close $150+

starvinbull3237d ago (Edited 3237d ago )

My position is this. If a Final Fantasy 7 remake comes out and pushes the PS3 to the max, has loads of extras and satiates the hardcore FF7 crowd then I'll pay anything short of £200. If a game comes out that really gets me wanting it then a price tag won't put me off.
If a new ratchet and clank comes out I don't care what they add or do with it short of virtual reality with full 3D visuals and a VR dome to play it in, I'm not paying anything over £20.

If ShenMue 3 hit the shelves tomorrow they could charge what they want. If the spiritual successor to GTA SA hits the shelves tomorrow they could charge what they want. CODMW2? I don't think they can charge anything more than £50 tbh. Not if they want to sell another +10m.

i will agree with you, he's just trying to be all bunny now,.

mrv3213237d ago

Only this time the bunny is in her 40's and she's FAAT

When Activision jokes about something they actually mean they weren't joking but they don't want anyone to date them.

Memo-Xen x31003237d ago

This guy needs to find a way to stay out of gaming news altogether.

Tribunal3237d ago

lol he doesnt even hide his greed lol.

from wikipedia: In responding to why Activision Blizzard chose not to publish certain games, he implied the company is not interested in games that "don't have the potential to be exploited every year on every platform with clear sequel potential and have the potential to become $100 million franchises."

Didn't realize trying to charge people more during a recession is funny.

Sorry it took me so long to get the humor of it.
