A man chooses a slave obeys!!!

So you can choose games on demand...
chaosatom  +   2301d ago
On stores, I see bioshock as low as $20 easily.

I think it's a money-making scheme on people who don't know otherwise.

Yeah disc is cheaper but disc scatches and takes up space in your house. I go on trips to see family and they ask me to bring games, now all I have t pack is a memory card with my account/gamertag. Now I can sell my Bioshock, AC, COD2 and Mass Effect to peole who prefer a disc.
Bnet343  +   2301d ago
Overpriced, considering when:

$20 Brand New at Gamestop. I'm going to the Xbox forums and see what others say. They should of made these $20, not $30.

Someone beat me to it, but please feel free to contribute:

My only gripe...and its a small one
I was under the impression that all the games releasing to "on demand" would be at $15. Not sure why but somewhere I thought I read that so seeing $30 was a bit of sticker shock but its the same price as on Amazon so no biggie I suppose.
omegaheat  +   2301d ago
Wrong my friend.....
This is a biggie. At $30, the game will cost the consumer more money than a retail version of the game. For one, no physical disc format, there's no casing, no manual, and no retail distribution which means no shipping. How can they charge us the same price as retail if all of those things are absent. The point of digital distribution is too reduce the resale of used games cutting into the profits of publishers, not to abuse the consumers' wallets. It's like the lesser of two evils. Those greedy neck-tie wearing bastards that make decisions like this bring home a healthy paycheck and sit down with their families at dinner and try to convence their families about how hard there jobs are. There's absolutely no excuse for the $30 price of a digital distrubuted game. This stuff is getting way out of hand.
atwon23  +   2301d ago
I agree
I was really expecting Bioshock to be $20. For 30 Id rather have the the actual disk.
Jinxstar  +   2301d ago
Funny thing is the retail disc game is 19.99$... I don't get it. Whats the benefit of games on demand? Serious question. I have been out of the loop for a few weeks(Vacation) I am assuming it's digital distribution but how is it different from what live already offers? I know you can already get full retail games(Burnout paradise) on XBL and PSN already... So I don't get it. It's more expensive then a retail disc with no trade in value or collectible status in any way right?

This digital distribution thing is a joke. Instead of passing on the saving to the consumer they are just cutting out the middleman (retail) and keeping the extra for themselves. What's worse is that MS tries to rip you off on the hard drive you have to use to store the game. So they rip you off on storage and the actual product. Anyone that would fall for this is either really lazy (can't be bothered to put a disc in) or just plain stupid.

bioshock is $19.99 for a brand new copy, and you can trade it back in later and you wont have to wait 7 hours for the game to download, making a obsolete service seem new ftw

KionicWarlord222  +   2301d ago
7 hours ?

butterfinger  +   2301d ago
must have some terrible internet connection to have to wait 7 hours for a game to download.
shocky16  +   2301d ago
7 hours?!
What kind of slow, archaic internet connection are you using?
Nitrowolf2  +   2301d ago
lol 7 hours? psn or live is never that slow, you must have the worst connection ever.
30 dollars for dl game is steep for me, rather get the physical copy for the price you said.
II Necroplasm II  +   2301d ago
Do you even have a total meg of internet speed? lol
JasonPC360PS3Wii  +   2301d ago
Is just poor like Kenny from South Park, and he's a bitter droid. Damn dude I live in middle class and I can download this game in 20-30 min. Poor droids can't afford a good connection because they are to broke from buying a PS3.

MGOelite  +   2301d ago
average american download speed is about 2MBPS and if the game is about 6-7 gigs (total esitimate) then it would take 5-7hours for a full game (and seriosly fuk you to the bots above^, im basing the time on a dirty yanks connection speed not mine from the UK)

@ Jason 360
How stupid. Where I live there are only two internet providers and they both suck. I could toss all the money I want at them and it wont affect my download time.
KionicWarlord222  +   2301d ago
Do you seriosuly thing its 7 hours ?

I could have swore splinter cell takes like 20-3o mins to download .

i think your just trying bash this for no reason .
MGOelite  +   2301d ago
ok you do that maths, how long does it take for 6-7GBs to download if you have a 1.9MBit connection (standard american connection according to http://arstechnica.com/tech... )
KionicWarlord222  +   2301d ago
If you seriously think everyone who plays Online multiplayer games has that connection you must be crazy .
Saaking  +   2301d ago
At the most it'd take an hour. 7 hours is way too much.
akaFullMetal  +   2301d ago
why does it cost the same as the physical version???
edhe  +   2301d ago
Or more...
Roper316  +   2301d ago
or I could get the combo of Bioshock / Oblivion and only pay about 18 bucks per game. This digital distribution is a complete ripoff and they can keep it.
atwon23  +   2301d ago
I was thinking about doing the same as I dont own either. I wonder how big the install is on it though.
Roper316  +   2301d ago
there is no install unless you choose to install it to the HDD. It is on disc and you get both games for 36.99.

N4GAddict  +   2301d ago
Yea, no reason for Microsoft to be inflating prices for a two year old game that can be found cheap.
akaFullMetal  +   2301d ago
Or more???
The_Zeitgeist  +   2301d ago
Can't you already get Bioshock and Oblivion for cheaper than $30 in a bundle? Either way if you are a 360 owner and you haven't played this game yet, then shame on you! I only have PS3 so I have an excuse for not playing it until recently.
Dazel  +   2301d ago
You can buy it cheaper off ebay so why would you bother????
MetalGearBear  +   2301d ago
how many GB required for download on Bioshock?

4.6 GB!!!!!!!!????
for download bioshock!!!!!!!??????
good thing I own PS3.
butterfinger  +   2301d ago
you expected the full game to be smaller than that? Wow, you are really out of touch, aren't you?
Baka-akaB  +   2301d ago
Dear lord , i called this a rip-off when that lackluster list appeared , but now it's a move of epic activision proportion ... a digital of copy of an already old game costing more than the disc ?

Kudos !
ThePlaystation3guy  +   2301d ago
What a ripoff. Microsoft overcharge? Who'd a thunk it?
interrergator  +   2301d ago
why 30 bucks wth i can buy it for 20 at gamestop fck that
SmokeyMcBear  +   2301d ago
I actually think its pretty cool to have a full game on your hard drive without having to change the discs. Isnt the disc read error a problem with some consoles? Plus the convenience of buying a game from your couch. I think its cool..
Elvfam511  +   2301d ago
No it's not cool if you can buy the disc version of the game for cheaper
SmokeyMcBear  +   2301d ago
I can understand that. But simply having it is a pretty cool feature. It would be pretty cool having the platinum hits or whatever on the ps3.. .i need to fill up my 320 GB hard drive. Yeah it sucks MS priced it so... but its a cool feature none the less.
DevilWillCry289  +   2301d ago
WOW a cant believe this...
I also thought it was going to cost $20 the most. Theres no point for me of buying it there. The only good thing about Games on Demand is that I don't have to carry the game disks where ever I go out and also I don't have to worry about the disk getting scratch. How come are they charching us $30?

Well you can buy it on steam for $20 if you want it.

RIP off.
GiantEnemyCrab  +   2301d ago
I think MS is going for the impulse buyer who will see this, heard of Bioshock but too lazy to go out and hunt down a used copy. For those that do this is a bit of a slap in the face.

I totally agree that for a DD only game $15-$20 is reasonable.
The_Zeitgeist  +   2301d ago
What a dumb avatar. Mis-informed fool

"Bioshock is now available for $30"

That's crazy. I bought that game at the beginning of last year at $20. It is well worth the $30 price tag but you can find it elsewhere for a lot cheeper.

It looks like the only time i'll be buying a game off the Games On Demand service is when it will be part of the "Deal of the Week".

30 bucks, the bots are getting ripped off. You can find the game as cheap as $15. I think there was a discount on steam a few months ago where they sold it at like $5.
