Starcraft II delayed until 2010 – why it's significant

Turns out the rumors were true. Activision Blizzard, as part of its earnings announcement today, announced that the highly anticipated "Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty" has been delayed to 2010.

While the news was widely speculated, it's still a disappointment to gamers who have been waiting for the series' next installment for 11 years. Activision's not happy about the delay either, as it estimates the move will shave $250 million off of the company's revenue this year.

It really blows because Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 are looked at as very important titles for PC gaming. Oh well, at least they're only delayed.

SC2 won't have to compete with all the other holiday titles. They complained about not making that 250 million this year? So what? make it next year, EARLY. I don't see how that's a bad thing.

Starcraft 2 doesnt compete with other games. Other games compete with it. It would have destroyed the competition this holiday had it come out. I am so mad about that.

is like Polyphony Digital, they are both perfectionist. They will release their game when it's ready. I feel sad as I was really anticipating Starcraft2 to come out this year.

Is there any major titles left for the PC this year and I'm talking about games that are also seeing a home console release?

seeing as they have a "one game per year" policy, I take it that diablo 3 won't be here till 2011 at the earliest now, or 2012 ( most likely), and although I never really though starcraft 2 would be here in 2009, and diablo 3 in's still disappointing to have my worst fears confirmed........sacred 2 isn't a good enough substitute for d3
