IGN: TMNT: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled Review

The first TMNT arcade game is still a top-seller on XBLA, and this sequel will probably perform similarly. But this shallow, generic brawler is coasting on nostalgia fumes and the TMNT brand. Ubisoft didn't ruin the original arcade game; it just didn't do enough with it. Virtually nothing has been added to the gameplay, so you're paying a premium for updated graphics you may not even like. This would have been more digestible as a straight $5 port of the original game. But when you consider that the fantastic 'Splosion Man was just released for $10 and has much more going for it, the Turtles could have stayed lost in time. It's an archaic game design that might tickle your nostalgia bone but won't hold your attention for more than an hour.

looks like IGN didn't drink the TMNT nostalgia Kool-aid!

The demo took me back to some nice memories i had..but i don't think i'll buy right now.. i'll wait for Trials HD and Shadow Complex

Yeah Splosion Man, Trials HD, and Shadow Complex are all nice exlcusive additions to replace the loss of CC and Braid.

Honestly though, as much as I usually take IGN's opinion to heart I'll try the demo first.

Are you sure about that? With Sony's 6 month rule, Braid and Castle Crashers MUST include additional content. Seeing how Bioshock got that cool DLC, Tales of Vespria has a crapload of new stuff, and Eternal Sonata got a whole lot, PS3 owners seem to be getting more than just a Braid and Castle Crashers port, lolololol.

I guess I may be the first to say this, it's nice of them to upgrade the graphics; but as IGN said if they made it toggable at least from old to new I would buy it in a heartbeat and play on the old. For some reason the new ones just aren't doing it for me. Though if this may be my only option I'll download it, because Turtles in time was awesome no matter what.

It was a flop like I knew it would be. The SNES original is way better than the botched remake. Poor xbots, they were hyping this game like it was the best thing ever.

It's just a mediocre remake XD.

Now you know the game sucks when the original is better than the remake. lol

gambare3238d ago

That's why they delay it for PS3, first the beta for 360 and then the fixed version for PSN

DonCorneo3238d ago

just last week, some bots were bragging about this pos.. LMAO

I guess the reason they decided to lower the price for this game is because they knew it sucked ahead of time. It seems they did that so the backlash wouldn't be as bad when people got mad about buying a mediocre game (even though the xbots should be used to this by now as they are used to mediocrity).
