Forza 3: Drag Racing Q&A; American Muscle and Trucks Reveal

"If there's a way to push your favorite car to its limits, you'll probably find it in the upcoming Forza Motorsport 3 from Turn 10 Studios. Racing ranges from traditional circuit and oval racing to more specialized disciplines, such as timed races and drift events. While all of these racing styles require technique behind the wheel and a mind for tuning your car to its peak of performance, perhaps nowhere are these two disciplines more perfectly melded than in drag racing, which is yet another race type that will be found in Forza 3. Recently, we had a chance to speak with Forza 3 game director Dan Greenawalt on drag racing in Forza 3 to see what's in store for the quarter-mile crowd." - Gamespot

...that if GT5 doesn't have drag racing, 360 owners are going to swear that drag racing is the BEST thing they've ever seen in a driving simulator, EVER!

N4PS3G3416d ago

Yeah just like Rally is the BEST THING EVER now thanks to GT5!! haha

PirateThom3416d ago

Rally was always the best motorsport. Anyone who jumps on the rally bandwagon now because "OMFG ITS GT" is a troll.

FordGTGuy3416d ago

Were all well known and respected motorsports way before either Gran Turismo or Forza. So what is with all this crap?

kaveti66163416d ago

Nah, I don't think anyone in their right mind would say that drag racing is better than rally.

Megan Fox3416d ago (Edited 3416d ago )

speechless =0, that looks almost like the real deal.

Drag is a great addition to the game. FM3 FTW.

coolirisGB3416d ago

Making excuses for what you did claiming 360 fans act like PS3 fanboys. Why would Turn 10 put Rally in this game when there are franchises devoted to Rally? Does Poly even do physics good enough to warrent the hype from ps3 fans.

badz1493416d ago (Edited 3416d ago )

don't start talking about physics when neither of those games has been released. but rally is indeed a great addition! there are many fans out there devoted to rally games! I've played a lot of rally games and while not a fan of Xbox and 360, I do love Rallisport challenge and played the hell out of it! DIRT is great and DIRT 2 is indeed coming but it's interesting to see what PD can do with rally compared to codemaster! rally with GT5 graphics? HELL YEAH! I can also say the same thing about drag racing like what you did because NFS always has drag racing. so? what's your point? isn't it a great thing with both Forza 3 and GT5 will have tons of features? since when that the dev adding more varieties to their games is a bad thing? gamespot much??

What no ford svt lightning?

FordGTGuy3416d ago

the full car list but a tiny portion and i'm sure these aren't the only trucks in the game. So be patient and you will know soon enough as the game is only a couple months away.

I need my 1967 Shelby GT500

SmokeyMcBear3416d ago

Didnt need for speed have some sort of drag racing aspect to it... that was pretty awesome. Im not sure whats fun about driving for 10 seconds.. unless you know.. you're at the track. But need for speed did it right with focus on gear changing at correct times as well as avoiding traffic.

JOLLY13416d ago

Forza 1 had drag racing

power0919993416d ago

I completly agree with what you are saying, at least as far as a video games goes it does sound a tad boring....

BUT... Turn10 added a working clutch feature, along with the tuning side of things. I am willing to be there will be bracket racing as well.

I have a feeling drag racing is going to be more in depth than we may be giving it credit for.

FordGTGuy3416d ago (Edited 3416d ago )

Its not just about driving in a straight line it is about keeping your car under control and pushing as hard as you can towards the finish line. In the article they confirm 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 and mile long drag strips it can be quite interesting to see who has enough control over their car or can tune their car just right to squeeze every last piece of speed in those seconds.

Syronicus3416d ago

And thatw as actually fun because you could tune your car like mad. Man did I have some crazy cars on that track.

Megan Fox3416d ago

@ Syronicus

Yeah, with the customization and tuning FM3 offer this could be very interesting.

Never saw that one coming.

DonCorneo3416d ago

Did you see how ugly flopza 3 is?

Spike473416d ago (Edited 3416d ago )

WTF is this? What's next? Firetruck vs. ice cream truck?

(I'm not bashing Forza,I just never got that concept)

SmokeyMcBear3416d ago

I got 10 bucks on the ice cream truck.

Well in reality.. if you go to a local strip on their public night... wednesdays here at sears point. You will see a variety of cars there...some of them stock.. and some of them not necessarily known for going really fast.

36T3416d ago

Why would anybody want 400 low end cars in a racing game? Maybe that should be a question for PD. YAY, i'm in fifth gear and i'm only rolling at 100km/h. Double YAY!!!

Syronicus3416d ago

Any race game would have trucks unless it had support for an off road race. It will be interesting but perhaps it's because Turn 10 scored rights to DUB or something... And I have to agree, a game that would have 400 low end cars is silly. It's a good thing there is no such game.

Each class requires class specific cars and even the lower classes need cars to pick from. They're not low end cars, just low class cars for beginners. You got to start somewhere. And having 400 lower class cars to pick from rather than 100 is far better. Now, what games are you talking about 36t?
