Eurogamer reports that the in-game adverts causing a damaging increase in WipEout HD load-times have been removed by Sony.

"The ad has been removed from WipEout HD and we are investigating the situation to ensure that any in-game advertising does not affect gameplay," said a spokesperson.

Anything to improve game performance is a welcome thing in my book

Tempist2995d ago

I think this was a US only thing. I never saw a single ad while playing.

Gamertags2995d ago

and never enjoyed it enough keep playing. I am glad it loads faster...I guess.

Anyone remember that article that criticized the Xbox 360 for having ads in the menu?

phosphor1122995d ago

You can't compare having ads on the main UI of a console to in game ads.
One is on there no matter what game you use, and the other is game specific. Games have had ads for years now, just video ads during loading is bs, thats why they are gone now.

the increased load times of killzone online games since advertising the map packs on them?

Redempteur2995d ago

everyone noticed ...
i got at least 20 sec of loading added ( if not more )

it's sad ....

Hoolock2995d ago

My killzone is generally getting slower at loading full stop. I think its to do with how the patches are added to the game. But its hardly a massive pain since the mulitplayer games themselves last a long time

Afreelunch2996d ago

I'm not sure I buy this. In that comparison video, the race starts before the progress bar is even full in the video without the ad. I've never had that happen, and I've been playing this game almost every day for six months.

MiloGarret2995d ago

That's true about it starting before the loading is complete... On the other hand, I've never had load times as long as the one with the ad. Maybe the video creator edited it a wee bit to exaggerate the effect.
