Speaking to a group of market analysts this week, Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer repeatedly mentioned Apple, including a suggestion that a growing rate of Mac adoption is statistically insignificant.
I think it's called DAMAGE CONTROL!!!
Why would they need damage control in a market they pretty much own?
Ballmer sounds like an American automobile CEO ten years ago, and you see what happened to them...
what a guy always good for a chuckle!!
Microsoft's perception that they need to dominate every market they enter is going to kill them one day. Thats not a good way to do business.
He's one hell of a comedian
cheer leader. I saw once a youtube vid of him screaming "come on" and jumping around the stage at a MS conference. I thought it was a joke but it wasn't. Couldn't believe my eyes.
that was an epic video
so i wasn't really dreaming then. i wonder what the heck go into him that day.
lol he looks angry in that video haha
Wow... that video was... uh... a little frightening.
I love the image you've added to the post. It fits this post quite well.
That image will remain in the archives of win.
Lower price than Apple? Upgrading Windows, Office & Visual Studio will set you back around $1500 while upgrading OSX, iWork & Xcode will only set you back around $250. Does Ballmer have any idea what the MSRP on his software actually is?
...but the Mac will set you back at least $1500 (for only a dual core cpu), and for that I can build a quad core phenom II x4 940/ dual radeon 4870x2 based system. And where did you get your quotes? Didn't you say "upgrade", cuz those prices are much lower.
i take Windows 7 and Ubuntu over MAC OSX anyday. I take Android, Windows Mobile over Iphone SDK everyday. Apple is just too control freak.
ubuntu, Mac OSX, and Windows XP (my mom has vista), and just like any new OS it all depends on the amount of time you spend on it to feel comfortable. It will feel off, or different and weird for the first week or so, but then you'll get used to any OS if you use it long enough.
i'm a developer and I'm using all of them every day. User friendly wise, MAC OSX is superior. Functionality wise, it is the worst among all. that's why i will choose Windows 7 and ubuntu anyday. Leave OSX for those are not capable and wanted to feel superior.
The MS execs always have something up their a$$ that makes them run their mouths.
All companies talk about others faults .
he said MS wants to dominate the market and then he goes on to say he dosent care about Mac marketshare.
He speeks truth now matter how you look at it. Sure are an awfull lot of PS3 fans in here, go figure.
Steve Balmer is an idiot. Thats easy to see. PS3 fan or not. The fact that he openly admits the only reason PC's sell so strong is because they're the cheapest on the market echoes that. If apple wanted, they could just forgo the quality their products are known for and release a $500 dollar mac, which could easily dent MS marketshare. It wouldn't take much for MS empire to crumble, and Gates knew that. Steve doesn't.
Those windows commercials with them looking for computer then they see how high the mac is ....and walk away are hilarious .
This isn't a 360 thread... So why does it matter if ps3 fans are here?
guys don't mind Jason. He is just paranoid.
dktxx2, I agree that it won't take much for the MS empire to crumble, but if I were going to bet on what was going to bring MS down it would the launch of this: http://www.pcworld.com/busi... not a $500 Mac.
Can you seriously stop being a troll? The whole article was about MS addressing APPLE. How is this even related to PS3 or their fans? Leave those comments to yourself. People will just view you neggatively. At least post to the subject. Quit being a 5 year old.
i call balmer "an idiot".
Ballmer you fluke...
Steve Ballmer is a rounding error. Why do all Microsoft executives have to be such nimrods?
Still take windows 7 over Mac osx .
i miss Bill.
he said that the iPhone wouldn't be successful. He's very naive!
yeah what an asshole, he looked at it in that interview and started alughing at it, a couple years later, the Zune HD.
His body has rounding errors, too.
So insignificant that you can't stop talking about them. The pressure is starting to show. Nice.
Apple is mostly popular in USA but in rest of the world Apple computers are almost unheard of. Actually, I would say Apple PC's are ONLY popular in USA. Last year Apple couldn't even reach top 5 of the PC makers in Europe and market share i Europe is still less than 5%. While Apples market share in more than 10%, worldwide share is much less than 5%.
Not everyone has to (or wants to) be number one in everything.
