Ex-special forces soldier Kennedy to be featured in MMA video game

Former Special Forces soldier Tim Kennedy confirmed his manager is in negotiations with UFC, but any potential signing could be affected by his decision to star in EA Sports' upcoming video game, "MMA Payout." According to reports on, UFC president Dana White has warned that fighters shouldn't sign a licensing agreement with EA Sports if they want to fight in the Octagon.

UFC has it's own MMA video game with THQ called "UFC 2009 Undisputed" and would like fighters to avoid potential conflicts between the two companies. According to, EA Sports is offering $5,000 to $15,000 to potential fighters for a one-game, two-year nonexclusive deal.

good. Dana White told everyone what the consequences would be. If you try to cash in with EA your out of the UFC.

Seems fair to me.

But I really don't think he realises the full extent of it all and he does refer to Dana quite casually...maybe he hasn't spoke to him since the whole situation. Could be screwing his career up.

That would suck, however the MMA family is alot like the Pro wrestleing one in that alot of the fighters are friends outside the ring and I'm sure they talk, not to mention the UFC owns it's fighters liknesses' and will most likely sue in the event that a fighter going to EA would damage the UFC i.e. Chuck Lidell or Rampage leaving etc...

Unfortunately for this guy he is not that well known and most likely will just be "allowed" to leave. perminatley.

After actually reading the article I think this guy is a joke....

He took "allegedely" 5,000 to 15,000 to be in the game, then he goes on to call Dana White "the Bully of MMA".....yeah he was probably done in the UFC before this even went down.

"If you try to cash in with EA your out of the UFC. "

I agree. EA laughed off UFC and said it wasn't even a real sport. So why anyone FROM the UFC would go over to EA and this MMA game is completely stupid when they disrespected you, your career and sport.

Maybe fighting in the UFC doesn't mean as much to him as people think.

Maybe he would rather do what he wants than do what he is told and is very nonchalant about the circumstances. To him it seems the consequences are not getting banned but rather the real result is he would have to allow himself to be bullied and that is something he cannot do.

I think EA's MMA game will be better than UFC: Undisputed. Shame they can't get the UFC roster. Trying to get Fedor on the cover would be a smart move though.

*edit* I see they already got Fedor. Now get Mousasi!

*edit 1.1* "The participation of Gegard Mousasi and Renato Sobral in the EA Sports game was also announced Wednesday. They will join Frank Shamrock, Tim Sylvia and others."

I want Ken Shamrock lol! That f*cking meathead deserves a good pounding. And I want to deliver it using Bas Rutten!

outlawlife3186d ago

this game is going to be terrible, EA trying to cash in on the mma fad right now and it is not gonna be good

it won't even be looked at as legitimate unless ufc is attached

truehunter3186d ago

He can always go to Pride Fighting.

jessehaysfl3186d ago

Doesen't the UFC own Pride now? isint that how GSP came over?

SIX3186d ago

But GSP was always with UFC. Before UFC he was champion of TKO. Anyways, more importantly i'm saying to myself, who the heck is Tim Kennedy?

The RhymeScheme3186d ago

Yeah if it was company still. They were bought by UFC.

Funny thing is, one of two things will happen:

1. Dana will be like Bobby Kotick and be bluffing (not the first time he's run his mouth).
2. The brothers will make a final call about it (Dana is NOT the highest guy, and thus, doesn't really have the authority to MAKE such decisions).

In short, don't look for that entire banning thing to exactly come to fuition.

Now, I never heard of this guy, so I don't know if it would be a big loss to the UFC, but if it was someone like Liddel or Lesner, THEN they would want to listen instead of running their mouth about banning people.
