NowGamer: You may recall that Disney is adapting Ubisoft's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for the big screen with the help of uber-producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Gemma Arterton, and the legendary Sir Ben Kingsley.
In the current climate, it might be the wrong time to bring out a Prince of Iran movie. Kidding.
nothing is wrong with iran. but the funny thing is they put a white guy as the prince of persia lol real stupid. goes to show everyone thinks americans are stupid
It's a general misconcpetion that all Iranians/ Persians are dark skinned. In ancient Persia there was more white people than in today's Iran. A little trivia: Iran stands for Aryan which means 'white'.

"A little trivia: Iran stands for Aryan which means 'white'." no, the word Aryan has roots in world that Iranians called themselves by Ayria, meaning free, noble and steady. The world Iran is derived from this very root, having been transformed from Ayran to Iran, meaning the land of the Aryans. This is the most ancient term applied to the Iranian Plateau, In ancient terms Ayran certainly does not mean white.
http://www.resist.com/Artic... Also, a bubble up :)
Likewise, look at the peoples of Asia minor (mainly Turkey). I think people have the misconception that everyone in the Middle East is Arab...false.
My high school teacher told me this, therefore it must be true! ^_^ Ahah, well she did tell me that back in high school, but I wouldn't know it its true or not. Nor have I done any research about it. Wasn't it Hitler who said Aryans were blond haired and blue eyed? But... would you take Hitler's words for it, or my teacher's words? Hmm.... *ponders*
You have got to be kidding me. Freaking Jake Gyllenhaal....give me a damn break.
leather pants? fail
lol i thought the same but it looks like theyre normalish pants but theyre wet and thus shiny
Embarrassing. Looks like taken from an episode of Young Hercules lol!
that this film is going to be cheesy and hammy? The whole "girl jumps on the back of horse with hero" scene is so clichéd it's untrue. Anyway, I am sure the answer is that it's not possible to tell.....and the film will be great.......I hope.
Ancient Iranians were as far from white as the actor in this movie is Iranian.....LMAO!!!! I can't even believe someone would take Aryan (white) and use it towards this topic. Are you @#$ing serious right now? Really? And if you are Iranian you didn't pay attention to history class in school. LMAO!!! Sometimes I can't even believe some of the things people post online. LOL!!!! Too funny!!! The very climate of that region would make it almost impossible in ancient times for "white" people to thrive in that region. Let's not even talk about the misconception from ancient times that white people were lepers and giving the history of that region of seperating itself from things they didn't understand or agree with I can see ancient Iran being white.....please stop the madness....please...not a good look at all....LMAO!!!!
So aryan doesn't mean 'white'? I didn't use it to prove anything, I just thought it's interesting for people to know. My bad if you felt offended. Sorry for that!
I thought it was gonna be a decent movie, but from those pictures... epic fail.
This looks like Prince of Egypt. Bet he speaks American. I loved the game Sands of Time. Nice rich palace style and lavish archictures.
....and I can tell you there is no such language as AMERICAN, we mainly speak english here, this language you call AMERICAN, well ive never been taught that.
thanks to all people around the world that support our people with their voice.. we are really happy& grateful to have your empathy and kindness .. on topic: looks decent.. but those pants looks weird , Im iranian and I know 1000 years wearing JEANS was inappropriate!! lol btw iranian people have all kind of skins.. people in south have darker skin and people in north are white(not exactly like this but almost true).. my brother is completely white with green eyes , and Im alittle darker with ligh brown eyes. even me and my bro dont have same skin! :P
I've promised myself i wouldn't complain if the story and acting are good enough. But damn, it's hard for a person with a little bit of common sense not to cringe at the poor guy trying to look Persian. I mean, forget skin color, his facial structure is a dead giveaway. He can grow his hair, grow a beard or even get as much tan(or for some others, bleach) as he wants and he still wouldn't look like a Persian. But enough ranting from me. I'm giving it a chance to prove that looks don't matter as long as the rest is satisfactory.
Iranians are really really light skinned. The more south you go from there, the darker it gets.
where Mooney was like... Tom Cruize... Last Sammuri and what next Tom Hanks as the last n***** on earth? haha so funny! Yeah Jake, you go and be... uh... persian?
how come no one is complaining about the princess name change and she being white now.
