Being innovative in the console industry: who wins?

Too many articles nowadays are focusing on controls, there are a massive amount of articles especially about Natal lately. Controls is just one thing were console producers have been innovative this gen. In this article Xboxkings points out what the innovations have been this gen, what is planned and what according to XBK will be the next evolutionary or… Revolutionary innovation. Xboxkings mentions innovations on three area's: hardware, online and controls. Besides that XBK specifies which company according to them holds the best cards to fulfill these possible future innovations.

I don't know though if I will get a Wii 2.0/Wii HD... I bought the Wii to softmod and run emulators for old consoles, but would I really want Mario HD enough to buy another Nintendo machine during this lifecycle around 2010?

air1: Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 isn't a rehash of the second game on the 360. It's a brand new remake with multiplayer, new characters, new bosses, new weapons, and new stages.

I would like to thank Tecmo for making my wish come true, that I finally get to play a game like NG2 on my PS3.

The 360 should have been reliable FROM the beginning. There is no reason why anyone should be afraid of buying a 360 to begin with. There are enough reasons to now own MS's pathetic junk of what they call "hardware", They might have improved it with jasper but its too late now. they lost me back when every single guy I knew had an rrod.
I used to tease my friend every time he turned on his xbox saying "who turned on the vaccumcleaner" haha, damn that thing was noisy.
ps3's just has so much more, when I buy a console I dont want the same outdated stuff "aka dvd".
I actually thought by buying the ps3, the games would always have extra content because of the space by blu ray, but that also got destroyed because of MS using piece of sh*t hardware.
As for games, why would I want to have a console who's games are dvd9 sized when you can have 50 gigs games? no need to disk swap either. and look at the lineup of 360 in 2009. its nothing compared to ps3, same will happen in 2010, not to mention you can play most of the 360 games on pc too.

Again there is absolutely NO good enough reason to buy a 360 if you have a ps3 and a reasonable pc, yes reasonable, not hyper powered like you bots say.

Mart clearly doesn't use HOME, im sure. Else he would have played Buzz or any HOME GAME that allows up to 64 people to play arcade games. I mean what is the point here? Mart doesn't like Sony, neither does XBK. No sense responding, but I just love how people live in denial. MS copies companies, and they do it for a living. Unlike Sony. Competing with the clear direction of the market is natural. Kodak should have went all digital, dont just stick to the polaroid. Consoles needed HDD's, and consoles Needed online play. Those are the only contributions that Microsoft has made to the gaming world.

The hardware is a joke, it has shown no examples that it can run gaming engines that compete with killzone2/Gran Turismo Prologue/Uncharted/Ratchet& ;amp ;Clank, or even flow. The only aspect Sony is playing catch-up to with MS is the handful of missing features from its online service, thats it. Not only that but 1 out of every 2 xbox360's overheat and die on you while picking your avatars new shirt.

Sorry PS3 XMB isn't perfect, its the same old PSP XMB. Its not very approchable for new gamers and many things are hidden in bloody long lists. The 360 NXE is better then PS3 XMB period.

Why buy 360? Halo, Halo 2 Halo 4 Halo 11, Microsoft is milking a good game to death, PS3 is better for its price because of all the hardware in it, free online play, being able to upgrade to a 1TB hard drive and the Bluray disc last alot longer then DVD or CD's.

In the end the PS3 is the most over power an most pack full system out their, I mean hack you can get Lunix on it and I wouldn't be shock if you can use the older Windows on it to.

Innovation article and Nintendo have been ruled out of the running? Hell Nintendo innovated so much they took a machine like the GC gave it a like of paint and turned it into the best selling console on the market!

Nintendo may not have the most fancy graphics, online or any film ability, but the innovation goes to the marketing statergy.

That aside, Microsoft made a great online experience (recently in doubt, due to adverts) and Sony created a Media Hub that is now producing the games i bought a Sony machine for. Not much innovation, just logical progression.

The term Innovative & Microsoft do not go together. The F'ing company was FOUNDED on STEALING others ideas and it has continued for the past 25+ years with EVERY iteration of Windows and has bled over into their "consoles".

they all copy each other, it is a common and successful business practice. if one company innovates then the others follow or get left behind. this is common sense at the most basic level.

Alan Wake looks ok but I think Heavy Rain is going to be a game that everyone wants, never dieing and you get to play as someone else when you die. Can you think how weird it is if you played as the person that killed you an then you stuck thinking of a way out of getting see by the cops.

That is pretty twisted an Alan Wake just seems like a game that is to scare you more then anything, It's like a What If game, I'm betting the story will be "He thinks about his book so much that things feel like they are coming to life but they aren't" or something close.

I might get it or rent it for 360 an that is only if my luck changes with the 360 -_- all my die from the disc drive acting up or bad wiring in it.
