Namco Bandai has announced Mobile Suit Gundam 0079, a first person shooter, for the Nintendo Wii in an issue of Famitsu.
According to the article, players will use standard FPS controls. The Wii remote will be used to aim while the Nunchuk will be used for movement. Gundam 0079 will take characters from four different series including Mobile Suit Gundam, Gundam 0080: A War in the Pocket, Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team and Gundam: Blue Destiny.
Gundam 0079 will include long range and melee combat which will all be controlled with the remote. Long-range targets can be snipped by using the control pad to zoom while melee combat will be controlled with the A and B buttons. By pressing A, players will switch to a melee weapon and be able to swing the remote to attack while the B button will be used to block.
Also described in the article is a duel gauge that will require the player to swing the remote to fill up the gauge when their weapons become locked with an opponent's. Defeating enemies will also lead to rewards including their weapons.
Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 has been confirmed for a Japanese release on July 26. No US version of the game has been announced at this time.
