A God of War: Chains of Olympus teaser trailer has been revealed. The trailer was hidden on the teaser site Island of Rhodes.
It looks as if the oft-neglected PSP is finally getting it's due of games! Getting this title's a definite no-brainer as far as I'm concerned.
If PSP can produce those graphics! WOW than i must get it once this game is released
I have a gut feeling that this game is going to cause a lot of positive reactions like the one just expressed in your comment. This game may very likely be the PSP's first "true" system-seller.
wow..look at that ? it rivals the ps2 version in graphics.
One of the guys that worked on Rathet & Clank for PSP said that PSP can do some thing better than PS2. Of course DVD gives advantage to PS2 but it seems PSP was designed to last for a long long time....
The psp has UMD which is equally proportional in terms of quality when watching movies on the psp. After seeing this games graphics am i can safely say that the psp MIGHT win the "Console wars" after all
you mean handheld wars?
No the console wars, the only next gen system on their way to selling over a million system will be either the psp or the ds. It is not happening with the ps3 or xbox360 ..*laughs* or the wii. The competition is much different now.
But handhelds aren't in competition with consoles....so it's not really a war. When you say a million...I'm guesing you mean 100 million?
Ohhh nice! Now that the PS3 & the PSP can get all cozy with each other, and especialy after seeing this video, I think its time to buy a PSP! Anyone, if you know and can fill me in, is this the original God of War on the PSP with a new name, or is it a different game (same but moodified or something) because from the video I can't remember that in the original God of War!
but I get a strong hunch that this is an entirely new game. Not only because the cutscenes appear completely new and unfamiliar, but more so because of what is said in the narration.: "...would one day confront the humanity he had lost, on the day this dark legend was born." I'll go out on a limb and assume that this game entails the beginning of Kratos (pre-God of War I).
Yeah I think your right! I've played the original God of War like 10 times. Looking at the screen shots & video it does seem to be a different game! I also agree that it might be the lead up to the original God of War, especially with the name. If anything it looks like Sony is gonna milk out the God of War series on the PSP, In about 6 months or so we will probably see God of War 1 actualy come out on the PSP. This could be a great move by Sony, has having this franchise with some unavailble gameplay from the PS2 series could realy help move PSP's! If in fact it is a different game, I will for sure buy a PSP the day this game drops!
This game looks amazing and i cant wait to play it but the PSP's crap load times and god awful battery life will make this game unplayable..and one other thing this is why the DS is beating the crap out of the PSP...DS has originality PSP a bunch of over priced PS2 ports of games that we've already played.
Is that you dont have a PSP cause while most of the crap titles on there are exactly how you described (bad load times, remakes, etc) there are also many great titles. Daxter for one is incredible, I never played the series on PS2 but the PSP version is something amazing in terms of gameplay and visuals. Metal Gear Solid Portable OPs is another one that pushes the PSP. Ratchet and Clank got great reviews, I have not purchased it yet. Killzone Liberation is great, as are both the Grand Theft Auto games. Loco Roco looks like a kids game but is in my opinion pure genius and one of the most addictive and fun games to come out in years. I think people are mostly put off by the price, the recent cut should help... but its irritating the way people talk crap on such an incredible system. DS is addmittedly innovative and they were smart to force developers to utilize the unique control schemes but for the most part the games are not even a little bit exciting for me. I guess I just outgrew nintendo...
I am not sure if this will happen but there has been rumors that Ready at Dawn was pushing real hard for the true speed of the PSP that being the 333 clock speed over the 222 CS. So if that is true I guess you will have to use a charger most of the game but I am fine with that. That being said the game looks great and I can't wait to play it.
i actually have never played a God of War game so i'll be sure to pick this up for gaming on the go. i'm thinking of getting GoW and GoW2 for PS2 but i sold my PS2 months ago. i want to play it on my PS3 but i've been waiting for rumble to return, i don't want to play the games without it.
i've played through the entire game of God of War 2 on my PS3, and i honestly didn't notice the lack of rumble one bit. i used to think rumble was cool and neccessary, but in the past, maybe three years, it's gotten increasingly irritating and intrusive while i'm playing games, so i found myself turning it off. i even played Shadow of the Colossus and the Silent Hills without rumble, and it had no effect on my enjoyment of the games whatsoever. i say just pick up God of War 1 and 2 and enjoy them. they're great games with or without rumble. and if you really, REALLY need rumble, then just buy that adaptor and a new PS2 controller (i'm assuming you got rid of your PS2 controllers when you sold your PS2), and get rumble that way.
but i'm one of those people that really misses the rumble. it took me a while just to get use to the psp. i do wanna get the games though. question...is the adapter out yet for the ps2 controllers to connect to the ps3? if so i'll get them all today.
i thought i heard that the adaptor was out, or there were USB adaptors for PS1/PS2 controllers already available. i still don't see the necessity for rumble (last i checked, all handhelds before the PSP didn't have rumble standard, so unless the only handheld you've ever owned was a PSP, i don't see how it could take you time to get "used to" a rumbleless PSP), but to each his own. to me, it's intrusive, and if i play for longer than two or three hours, the rumble starts to numb my hands. a great game is a great game, even without rumble. i just can't see myself denying myself a great gaming experience because my control doesn't vibrate, even back in the day, when rumble was first released.
i am absolutely SICK of hearing the phrase, "now the PSP has a good game!" or "finally the PSP get's a system seller!' what do you call Daxter?! Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror Tekken: Resurrection Metal Gear Portal Ops GTA: LCS GTA: VCS The Warriors Killzone Pursuit Force Ratchet and Clank (which i've been playing lately, and it's lots of fun) and a few others i can't think of right now. those are all GREAT, fun games! the PSP has plenty to entertain you for a while until even MORE great games are released. my point is, the PSP already has some great titles, and we all know it's a wonderfully capable handheld. with Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles, FF: Crisis Core, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Silent Hill: Origins, and probably tons other games with ":" separating the titles hitting this fall, the PSP is going to have a great year. i'm not ranting at anyone in particular (and certainly not you, Torchy, though your comment is in line with the things people say that set off my b*tching), it's just something that's been building up since January 2006 (when games like Daxter, and Syphon Filter hit), and it kind of came out now. it's like the whole "The PSP has no games," phrase has just become accepted as a universal truth, even though it's completely false. to put it in perspective for maybe those that don't get it, my annoyance is akin to the frustration Nintendo fans feel when people say "Nintendo games are for kids!" or we all feel when people say "Videogames cause violence!" do you get it now? the PSP is an amazing piece of hardware, and has managed to penetrate the handheld sector, where Nintendo has ruled the roost for over 20 years. 25 million PSPs sold is not a bad thing at all, considering that before, Nintendo had 100% of the handheld market, now it has about 75-80%, and the PSP has 20-25%. it's still 25% more than what it had 3 years ago. anyway, on topic, damn, this game looks hot, and after the high i've been coming down from because of God of War 2, releasing this PSP fix this year is a great idea, and will further stoke the fires until God of War 3 comes out in about two years or so (though i'm sure at E3 08, or whatever equivilant event, will have an announcement of GOW 3 in some form, though no actual gameplay, maybe a trailer of sorts).
you forgot Madden i don't know what i'd do if i couldn't get my Madden fix throughout the day. i like the psp version better than the ps3/360 version. i don't even play those versions anymore.
Right out of my mouth. I bought my PSP in December of 05 and have been playing it pretty much non stop. The load times complaint is hardly even valid if you put the thing into sleep mode. In addition, if people would treat it like a cell phone and charge it at night you've got plenty of play time. I've run out of batteries on only 2 seperate occasions in the year and a half that I've owned it. Granted I'm not playing it all freakin day, but its a portable... you play in between doing other things or when you're waiting in line. Whatever, let the people hate it, their loss!
but I couldn't agree more; I don't think I properly expressed what I was trying to convey. I've been absolutely loving, showcasing, and defending my PSP since acquiring it over a year ago. What I meant by 'first "true" system seller' (note the quoted "true") was that, despite the fantastic current and upcoming games available for the PSP, this is probably the first title with such an incredible high profile and immense influence made available for the system...especially given the momentum and buzz that the recently released GoW II has generated. I know it's definitely got me pumped. So, no worries. No offence taken, as I can see where you're coming from. BTW: I've got half those games you mentioned (and then some)...and enjoy them all very much. I'm very excited about what's in store for my Little Wonder that Could.
that was awsome, we get too kill more crazy demon monsters. high five
personally, i think Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops was that first "true" system seller (though you can argue that Monster Hunter 2 has outdone them all. lol), as MGS is, in my opinion, more popular and reknowned than God of War. after all, we're only on Krato's second outing, whereas Snake has been around the block for 20 years, with MGS3 being the best of the Solid series (which is odd for me to say, as i thought the original MGS was fricking fantastic). i think if MGS: PO had released right after MGS3, sales would have been ridiculous. this GOW game is totally coasting off of the positive buzz from GOW 2. since Ready At Dawn proved they know how to handle a PSP with Daxter, i'm really looking forward to their take on Kratos. it's looking phenomenal so far. i think God of War: Chains of Olympus is the second really big, system mover title, but there is so much to enjoy the PSP now. for example, i didn't own the PS2 versions of Tomb Raider Legend and The Warriors, so i got them for my PSP. great games. i'm currently enjoying Ratchet and Clank, and i of course have Daxter, Syphon Filter, and MGS: PO. i have the Acid series, as well as Kingdom of Paradise (which was surprisingly quality, to be honest)and a few others. i also have my various emulators, from NES, GBA, SNES, Genesis, etc, and some PS1 games like Symphony of the Night that i enjoy. i've had my PSP since about a month or two after it launched, and back then, you could see the potential, but there wasn't anything to hoot about. now however, 2 years later, there is plenty reason to be a proud PSP owner, and plenty reasons to pick one up now, and there's plenty to be excited for in the future (personally, i'm hoping team Ninja will develop a Ninja Gaiden for the PSP. if the DS can get a version, why not the PSP? i guess they're waiting to see how well Sigma does). to Scottie; i really, REALLY hate Madden. it's a running joke me and my roommate have, since he's a slave to Madden, but i can't stand sports video games, and in truth, i'm not big into sports at all (which almost gets me kicked out of the man club, buy my fiance loves that i'm not gawking at ESPN all day), though, ironically enough, i admit that i played Fight Night Round 3 on the PSP, PS3, and 360, and i enjoyed more than i thought i would.
You know, I've gotta say, I've got Portable Ops as well, and although It's been a great game so far (yet to be finished - I'm at some part where I have to find a ballistic missle launch facility at some underground silo), I don't think (personally, of course) that it could hold a candle to Syphon Filter...S.F., was one of my first games (along with Daxter), and man did that game ever keep me wanting more!...Portable Ops, just feels...emptier, compared to S.F.. Nonetheless, I think we're in consensus that the future's bright for the PSP...the other point I failed to properly convey, is that despite the aforementioned fantastic games available for the system, there was an ever-present negative stigma attached to the system, which compelled too many people to overlook the system - and unjustly so. I just feel now that the PSP is finally at a point where it will be taken more seriously by the masses, which I think will cause a viscous cycle of ever-increasing top-shelf titles to become available for the system. As far as God of War is concerned: I had the pleasure of fully experiencing both of them for the first time ever within the recent month or so. To say that I was blown away is an understatement. Hands down, two of the best games I've ever played (granted that it's always difficult, if not impossible to properly compare games from different genres.) I guess it goes back to subjectivity and preference...it's what keeps the world interesting. BTW: Fight Night is another PS3 title which I just couldn't put down for hours upon hours...well, at least until my fighter got old, flabby, and started looking like Sylvester Stallone in Copland. Check out my games list in my profile...it sounds like we share many similar titles. And FINALLY: I've been really eyeing Test Drive Unlimited for PSP. It's only CN$30 at Future Shop this week. Can anyone whose played/owned it, confirm whether this is worth picking up? If it's anything like Ridge Racer PSP, I'd be content!
