Pearl Research forecasts the Taiwanese online games market will surpass $300 million this year, and one analyst tells Next-Gen US companies can have a piece of the pie with a focused strategy.
"There are definitely opportunities for [US] developers in Taiwan, but they have to be very targeted. Competition is pretty intense," said Pearl Research's Allison Luong in a phone interview today.
Luong said there is a lot of online game content in Taiwan coming from Korea, China and Taiwan itself that could make it hard for US companies to penetrate the region.
"But then you also have World of Warcraft," she added. "WoW has been extremely successful in Taiwan."
