There is one retailer that has the power to call the winner of the protracted Blu-Ray vs. HD DVD fight and that vendor is Wal-Mart. Over the weekend they apparently leaked plans to bring in a massive number of low cost (possibly sub $200) HD DVD players for Christmas.
The manufacturing side of this has apparently been in the works for a few years but this is the first time we have had projected prices for the result.
EK Cooling allegedly has slipped itself into a hot soup of seemingly endless financial woes, where it has not paid its staff, suppliers, and contractors for many months as the company is facing liquidity problems and a surplus of inventory left unsold, stuck in the warehouse for a more extended period. Gamers Nexus investigated these claims made by former and current personnel, where he found trails of unpaid bills lasting as long as three to four months and unpaid raises that accumulated for almost a year.
EK Water Blocks has two entities—a Slovenian-based headquarters and a US-based subsidiary, EK Cooling Solutions. Steve narrated the series of events in detail, stating that the company was reportedly irresponsible and negligent regarding payment. Consequently, partners and employees are forced to share the burden of alleged mismanagement. It all begins with its extensive range of products, leading to a surplus of goods. EK has over 230 water blocks, 40 liquid cooling kits, 85 reservoirs, 40 pumps, 73 radiators, and 212 miscellaneous accessories.
Yes this is not about video games directly but indirectly this will impact the pc gaming/workstation space hard.
This company is massive one of two in the water cool space so if it goes poof then thousands out there have no spare parts or half built computers.

the purveyor of cheap plastic crap has actually picked a side, well that tells me what not to buy.

And if they premote HD-DVD over Blu-Ray, Blu-Ray is going to have a hard time.
And we're still running off a bad translation. A translation that said "blu-ray hd-dvd"...a name that everyone in europe gives to blu-ray discs. Hell my mum calls blu-ray...blu-ray HD-DVD since she thinks it isn't a dvd, it's a high-def dvd.
Also a translation which said it was made by TDK...blu-ray. And let alone Walmart pushes blu-ray.
We'll see when we get a proper translation. But there really should be anough of these guys running off the same article...it's just rehashing stuff which we don't know and he says it at the end "if this is true..." How is that news?
The hicks that shop at Walmart can't afford the HDTV to play them on.
